Unused Days and Finger Scanners

We always purchase multiple day passes. We have two days left on one of my son's passes from last year (He used the finger scanners) and are planning on visiting for two days this year. He cannot join us (He is now in college) but we wanted to bring a guest instead.

Ideally our guest can use his last two days on his ticket, but I am unsure about the finger scan. I know that one of its purposes is to replace the hand stamp for re-entry, but do they retain an imprint over a full year? If so, then I will purchase a seperate ticket for our guest, but it seems silly to do it if I don't have to. His last two days would go to waste.

By Florida state law, multi-day admission tickets are NOT transferable. I'm sure Disney is more than happy to be a good corporate citizen and comply with the law. The main purpose of the finger scan is NOT to replace the hand-stamp for same-day re-entry -- they can do that already just with the computers. I went to WDW last year, when the finger scans were in use, but since I bought my package in October of 2004 (before finger scanners were mandatory) my party and I never needed to use the finger scanners, but we also didn't need hand stamps to return to the same park later that day, either. The Disney computers know all.

To that end, finger scan data is probably maintained indefinitely, especially in light of the fact that Disney now sells tickets with a "no expiration" feature. If it's not, I'm sure Disney would never publicize it.

Sorry, but looks like you'll need new tickets for your guest.

And by the way, did your son buy his pass with the no expiration feature? Without the no expiration feature, passes expire 14 days after the initial use.

We always purchase the non-expiration option. I was assuming that we would purchase new passes. Not really that big a deal, it would have been nice to save the 180 dollars (two days with park hopping privilages) though. Ah well.
