okay... my head is killing me, so I am going to hit the hay. night guys!

I said what my mom said to me, I asked him, "What do you think?"
He said, "I don't think he's real, I think you and Daddy give me presents." I said of course we gave him presents, and so do grampa and gramma, uncles and aunts, etc.

He said, "No, I mean I think the presents from Santa are really from you." I asked why he thought that, and he said kids at school were telling him Santa wasn't real and it was really parents.

I said, "Wow. Well, I suppose there's one way to find out. If you don't believe in Santa, I suppose you wouldn't get any more presents..."

He suddenly said, "I believe in Santa!" :rotfl2:

:rotfl2: :lmao: :rotfl: That's too funny!! :rotfl:

I remember when I stopped believing in Santa. My older sister and I were little. I think I was 2 or 3 and then my dad rented a Santa Suit, got all dressed up and rang our door bell. I opened the door and freaked out my mind and cried and screamed and my dad had to pull off the beard to get me to stop. :rotfl2: :lmao:

Awwww! Yeah, that is a tricky age for costumed characters. :scared1:

I didn't really want to tell him, but I also don't want him to be one of those geeky kids who are 12yo and still swearing Santa is real, you know? So I was very vague, which is just how my mom handled it. I wasn't sure for years (but was pretty sure he wasn't.) :rotfl:

I want him to believe in the spirit of Santa Claus, like I do.

Yeah, I see what you mean. No harm in believing in the spirit of Santa. :goodvibes That's always a nice thought.

I just remembered I used to watch the Disney Christmas songs sing-along at Xmas time and Mickey's Christmas Carol when I was little. We also had a video called A Disney Christmas Gift and Jiminy Cricket's Christmas. :cutie:

Hey guys I was just catching up.

Appt went ok.

They are going to do the surgery April 11. They are also looking at the appeal to get her ankle replaced again. Its a year later and more deterioration has happened so they think they might have a stronger case.

She's excited about Italy too. I told her over Pinot Grigio and lobster raviolio at Maggiano's tonight. she said it was a great anniversary present. And she wants to take Morgan too!

this has to be a drive by post as dh wants me to come to bed. I've had a bad headache all day and he thinks I need sleep!

Goodnight. I'll catch up tomorrow!

Wow! So what I really want to know is... What does this mean for the Ladies Only trip??? :rotfl:

How long can you stay???

I do of course hope your mom's surgery goes well, and that the ankle replacement surgery comes through. My mom's got bad ankles, too, but she has the idea that there's nothing they can do about it. I don't know if that's true or not, but she basically uses a scooter at the grocery store, and barely gets out anymore. :(

Wow, what an experience to go to Italy. I'd love to travel overseas, but DH has absolutely no desire. His dad and stepmom go to Europe occasionally, and they both speak several languages. :)

Good night, Shawna. :cloud9:

Pix, I need to get to bed, too. Gotta get up at 7 to get the munchkin off to preschool. Still need to figure out what to do (for just a few hours) with DS7 that will be a little special. :goodvibes

Good night! :cloud9:

Hi Shawna! I'm sorry to hear about your mom and I hope the surgery goes well.

I'm glad that you are both going to Italy!! That's so awesome! :woohoo: I love Maggiano's!! They have the best minestrone soup and I love their pasta :goodvibes

So Bernice I've been sitting here watching Bizarre Foods with Andrew Zimmer on the Travel Channel. He's doing a special on Minnesota. Very interesting, it looks a lot like Washington, except your water's already on the ground and ours always seems to be falling from the sky.

You didn't tell me about the meat lotteries! So have you ever won a package of meat???:rotfl: I think that is such a cool idea.

It was soooooooooooooo cool to see you on the thread again-- loved the dream sequence.. very entertaining. :lmao:

hmmm, never had a meat lottery-- was that at a VFW hall?? :confused3

Hubby thought your water comparison was spot on :goodvibes When Staley was showing us houses that she likes-- I looked at the pics and thought: Are u sure that's not in MN?? It's the pine trees..I remember reading somewhere that when people immigrated from Finland they chose MN or travelled on to WA, the pine trees reminded them of home.

My dad lived in Walla Walla during the war, his dad was a machinist and worked on the Manhattan Project (Hanford) .. I alway wondered if my grandfather felt more "home" there, I know my dad loved going out that way on business trips and at one time considered having us move out there.
ok, that was a ramble.. glad to see you back and happy with your new "you!"

now poor Bernice and Betty will collect dust in your drawer :lmao:

My Sister, (the one who thinks you guys are men in disguise):lmao: , she lives in Florence. That is a darling little town. :goodvibes

I LOVE Florence. Spent many, many weekends there riding 3 wheelers when I was growing up. We always stayed at the Honeyman State Park and had breakfast at the Windward Inn.

She'll love this story: one time we were with a group of people and one of the ladies was, how shall I say this, not the sharpest pencil on the desk. Us ladies had headed into town with the little kids and were having breakfast at the Windward. As the waitress headed around the table everyone placed their order. Then Shawn placed hers and the waitress said how would you like your eggs? She said "Normal". The waitress didn't even skip a beat, took the order. She then ordered for her little boy "Bubba", no I'm not kidding. He got the kids breakfast with bacon and the waitress, once again not even skipping a beat kind of smiles and said "let me guess, he would like his eggs "normal" just like his mom". "Nope" she says "he wants his scrambled". We were all curious to see what "normal" eggs were. They gave her over easy and she ate them and never said a word, so I guess that's what "normal" eggs are!:rotfl:

We always used to stop at their little grocery store and get the pull apart cinnamon loaf....yummy!

MN is the only state that allows almost every non profit organization to earn money by having lottery games. Most of them are for pull tabs and are sold in taverns. However, for many, many years especially in the taverns they sell meat raffle tickets for $1. They sell 30 tickets and then spin a wheel. The winner gets to pick a package of meat worth $22, the other $8 profit going directly to the non-profit organization. My guess is it's some ingenious guy idea so they think their wives won't get so mad that they hang out at the tavern.:rotfl:

DH raced in Minnesota when he was pro. He remembers the state being just like Washington, only a big swamp everywhere. He said you know how our water goes down the hills, into rivers, out to the ocean quickly. Well it looks like their water just hangs out in lakes and things instead of heading to the ocean. Which I guess is a good thing our water leaves so quickly, because otherwise we would be underwater real quickly!:rotfl: I guess that would also explain the big Finnish population here!
