Grumble grumble grumble.. stomp stomp stomp!!!!!

It's snowing!!!

I told DS that it's his fault it's snowing.. it snowed on the day he was born thus the heavens must open up and pile on the snow to celebrate his 14th birthday today :)

14!!!

Man I feel old today.... I'm much too young to have a 14 yr old (I'm a young 36 yo). At least my 11 yo still wants to be around me... I will be very sad when he becomes a teen. No more cuddley mornings and talking about school. I will ask "how's school" and hear mumble mumlble ok.. grumble grumble. :sad2:

You & me both feel old! When did I become the "supposedly responsible" mother of a 15yo!! When did all this happen?? I don't want to be that nagging old mother that sits up all night worrying about what her teenagers are doing!

I do listen to other music, but most of it is older classic rock. I love anything from the Van Zant brothers (Lynard Skynard, 38 Special, Van Zant). Also like Aerosmith. But I do love country music. Truth be known there was a time I would have dumped DH for Keith Urban!:lmao: And I know Tim McGraw doesn't have much hair, but ya gotta love that butt! Oh & I think he can sing purty good too!

I find it kinda weird that (many years ago) I totally had a crush on Tom Cruise (before he got all weird). Then I had a crush on Keith Urban. Nicole Kidman was married to them both. Freaky that the only 2 celebrities that I've every really liked married the same gal. Guess Nicole & I have the same taste in men!

Ok time to quit dreaming and get back to work!

Hope your son has a great birthday!! Woot! Nothing beats a free cake!! :woohoo: :teeth:

The UPS man just brought DD's pink/purple disney crocs, too cute. I went for my root canal, and the silver filling was cracked and leaking causing the infection, so I had to go to an oral surgeon and get my tooth pulled. I cried....I have had my wisdom teeth out, my appendix out and 2 c-section, but the crying was for nothing it was quick. Now I am numb and stuffed with gauze. The lady said I could probably go to work at noon (that is in 10 min.) she is nuts... how can I teach 19 kids when I cannot even talk!
Now we get to talk about options...a bridge or an implant. It is tooth 30 (or the 2nd from the back) so it is not noticable. Ugh...the joys of 35!

All I have to say is OUCH!! But hopefully you will feel better soon. Boy your medical story sounds almost as good as mine. I've had wisdom teeth removed, sinus surgery, 1 c-section, 1 appendix removed during 2nd pregnancy, and now 1 breast chopped off. And the doctors wonder why I'm telling them I don't want reconstruction surgery! I'm tired of getting cut on!

Can't imagine trying to teach kids and not be able to talk! You'd sure be making a lot of hand gestures!:rotfl:

Gotta run for rads! Only 8 more to go!!:yay: :yay: :yay: Hope you get to feeling better very soon!

P.S. Doing the happy dance. Just checked the bank and we got our tax refund deposited. Now I'm planning the DL trip!!:dance3:

I hope you are feeling better. I know it sucks to go to the dentist. :( I saw the pink crocs you ordered for your DD at DCA and in the Fantasia Gift Shop at the Disneyland Hotel last Sunday. They don't carry that color for adults. I think they should though! They look better than the pink pearl ones I have. I still have yet to test them out at DL!

awwwwwww

Thanks guys I will make sure he sees these when he gets home.

I'm so glad I have boys! I would be a nervous wreck if I had a girl. Every time J goes out with friends I give him the little speech " don't do anything stupid, watch out for traffic, remember your stranger danger. And here take my cell phone, call me if you need me!"
He does the typical teen routine, rolls his eyes, "yes mom, ok, I know!!" and quickly runs out the door before his friends realize he 's getting a lecture

At least I talk to my kids :snooty: My mom never even said boo about anything I was doing. She had no clue where I was and never asked. I always came home at a decent time.
My parents would go up to the lake each weekend, I would stay home and invite people over.. ummm.. boys over.. overnight :rolleyes1 yeah I was a naughty girl.
But I didn't drink , do drugs or have wild kegger parties. That was my siblings job :lmao:

We had to retile our kitchen floor one year.. thanks to my sibs! They had a keg in the house, the barrel they had it in leaked and made the tiles pop up  That was a sucky winter of ripping up the floor and retile- yuck!

And one of my bros had a pot plant growing inside his window , mom never went in to our rooms. It was a huge plant!

We all are now parents, hard working in our jobs and keep close eyes on the teens!

I should buy more crocs. I have a pair of Mary Janes that I use for my demos, but they they don't work well for walking.
They're a little too big , I would love to try the kind hubby has. Endeavers with a power strap, I think they would fit better and have more cushion for walking. The Mary janes are kinda flat.

You and Morgan could be twins with your teeth pulled!!!

You poor thing. Maybe I should call you and make you talk to me about your WDW trip again!!! I am such a mean friend

I really do hope you feel better Lis:hug:

Good Morning All!!! (If anyone is still out there). DS officially became a member of the zyrtec family today - at least this doctor finally diagnosed allergies and didn't tell me that children don't get them :sad2: :sad2: :sad2: .

I feel for you bbmommy - I had to go to the dentist yesterday (just to get my teeth cleaned :rolleyes1 ) and it hurt like heck and I felt like crap all day yesterday - I can't imagine worse :scared1:

Happy bday to funnygarcia's son :yay:

Oh, and funnygarcia - it is a beautiful 86 degrees here today :rolleyes1

I feel like a thief (I am not though - I swear). Just went to Fry's and they are running their ceral and snack general mills items 4 for $8 - and if you buy 4 items - you get $4 off - so I got 4 boxes of cereal and 4 boxes of yummy granola bars for $6 (less $2 with coupons). I still have 8 or so cereal coupons - so I will be spending many days at Fry's!!! :yay:

woohoo! WTG:thumbsup2

Isn't it great when deals come together.

I haven't couponed much lately.. then again I have a ton of stuff that we can eat without shopping (except for milk and bread) for at least a month.

And oh yeah.. you suck!

:rotfl2: yeah - might go sit by the pool for a while and stick my feet in :rolleyes1

I looked up on how to transfer teaching licensure/credentials to AZ. hmmmm he would have to take his tests again GULP! They're not easy tests plus pricey $$ Wish they would accept Praxis tests.. it's basically the same thing.

Nevada allows you to just transfer without any extra testing.

California wil give you a preliminary credential and you ned to take their California Basic Skills Test within one year. Plus 15 clock hours of teaching ELL students (something he needs anyway).
The basic skills test sounds just like the PPST he took two years ago. Testing to make sure you now how to read, write and do math:laughing:

We have narrowed the choices by order:
California
1.Colton
2.Moreno Valley
3.Palm Springs

Nevada
4.Las Vegas

Those are the districts that will be at the job fair.

Later he will apply for other districts near Moreno Valley.. Riverside, San Bernardino, etc...

I had San Jose on the list but freaked at housing costs-- YIKES!

Bakersfield would be good for housing costs but I've read it is very very dull to live there. It was referred to as the "Bible belt of California" and staunchly Republican, hubby said NO WAY to that idea. No offense to anyone's beliefs or political views.. we just wouldn't fit in with our liberal Democratic upbringing. ;)

I just got off the phone with my mom and she was bawling her head off. She went to the DR to have her toe checked and to schedule surgery on it and she was told she needs full ankle replacements now. :scared1:

About 5 years ago she had them fused but was told it was just a temporary fix to hold off the full replacement well after an xray she has NO cartilage in her right ankle and only a tiny bit in her left. She told them she is NOT going to do that because she just isnt ready for another surgery after last years knee replacement but I'm trying to convince her to do it. She cries at the end of every day because it hurts her so much to walk. It will only get worse if she waits a year.

Now is the best time because she is busy during Christmas and can't leave her store and she could be back to work by then. We could also help her with her and I could move in with her if I had to for a few weeks during after dd got out of school. I feel so bad for her. Her arthritis is making her so much older than her age. She has all these dreams of traveling to Italy and she cannot even think of walking to get the mail without pain until she does this.

Sorry, just found out about all this right now and I'm a bit overwhelmed.

:grouphug: Hope things work out ok. Surgery in iself is a scary prospect. Do you think, when she has had time to recover from the shock of the news, that she will reconsider?

Thanks garcia. I really hope so. I am trying to get ahold of my brother in Tucson because he is very persuasive. After I talked to her she started seeing that it was best to get it done but she only scheduled the toe surgery which they said may not even work because her ankle is so messed up on May 23. It's times like these that I really wish my dad were still around because he would have told the DR to schedule that surgery no matter what. She wouldnt even let me go to the appt with her and I really wish I would have pushed and gone anyway.

:goodvibes

DS came home from school, I showed him all the Bday greetings/pics complete with cake and ice cream!

He laughed and grinned from ear to ear.

And now he's critiquing my inability to type wihout having a ton of typos.:rotfl:

Oh, AZ Im sorry to hear about your mom. Dontcha just hate it when you want to make them do something that you KNOW will be in their best interest, but they wont? Break it down, spell it out, and if need be club her over the head and take her in!!!!
