Wow, that's really unprofessional on the part of the employee. That sort of thing just wouldn't have been tolerated with my previous employer, the employee would have been fired I'm sure! You don't mess with customers' information!
On top of that, those emails are not usually legit. They are a great way to spread bugs, or at least collect a bunch of email addresses to sell to spammers; some of them have an embedded program that tracks email addresses every time the email is forwarded. I almost never forward on a forwarded email for that very reason. If I do, I usually cut and paste the email portion into a new email rather than just hit the 'forward' button.
