My little sister is lucky! She gets to DDR at school for P.E. class! I told her they made us run laps around the football field, jump rope (yes, jump rope which was very odd) and play basketball and softball.

I think N gets to do that on Fridays.

yeah, he has to run a mile within so much time before end of school year. They started them off with walking the mile.

He already walks 1.3 miles to school, does his PE walk,and walks the 1.3 miles home (in the heat, up a hill) .

But he loves it!

hey, my oldest is in high school.. I STILL don't know the right questions to ask.

If he seems ok with school then I would just let it slide for awhile.
Conferences are when?? Like October?
Not too far away in the grand scheme of things, takes awhile for students AND teachers to settle into the swing of things.

But I bet he's learning so much more than just numbers and letters social skills, routines, forming friendships.. lots of new skills to tackle.

He LOVES it, and LOVES riding the bus! Yeah, conferences are in October... we have parents night coming up... He loves playing with the other kids, and he REALLY loves the girls...

She's not causing their lunch to be unorganized.. She has nothing to do with it, she just drops them off, and the lunch people take care of them. I think a HUGE part of the problem is, this is the first time they have ever had full day kindergarten... So they are reall trying to figure out how to work the little kids, and see what works out for them. The teacher doesnt think the little ones should be with the older kids, and she thinks its to unorganized...

There is a Parents night in a few days, so I will talk to her then.

ahhhh, now it makes so much more sense.

Wonder if they need some extra lunch aides to keep everyone on track?
Not sure how it was done when my boys went to school (the youngest was full day K).

Now they have lunch outside.
Right next to the basketball court (also outside).

Middle school doesn't have lockers, so he carries his stuff all day.

High schol has tiny lockers.. and they have to share it!
It's a tiny square, all the way to the bottom (floor level) . Glad he's not in band this year, where do band kids put there stuff all day???

I'm curious to know why she's concerned about the kindergarteners lunching with the older kids. Too much hubbub and confusion? Have there been issues? Are the younger kids complaining? Are the younger kids overwhelmed, not sure what to do, not eating?

Talk to her at parent night. Maybe she could have her class eat in the classroom. Maybe the school could appoint kindergarten lunch buddies from the older grades, have a few kids who maybe help the younger ones get their meals and get seated. They could have a special space for the little ones so they can kinda stick together. Whatever, you know? Whatever the problem is, I'm sure there are several good solutions to try.

That sucks to be lugging your books around all day. My little sister is in middle school and she gets a locker next month I think. You have to pay for it and I think it's first come first serve.

OMG, are you SURE we're not related???

Ask if she's got an email address. Or you can check out the school's website, usually the teacher's email ID is listed on there. It's much easier to keep in touch via email, especially since going to the school means a drive for you.

So do they have a cafeteria? DS's school doesn't, so each class eats in their own classroom. The kids that are getting hot lunch line up and go out toward the gym to the lunch line, but the kids who bring theirs just stay in the room and can start eating.

Waiting to get his lunchbox, or there being confusion about where it goes afterward just doesn't make sense to me. DS keeps his lunch in his backpack until it's time to eat; then he puts it back when he's done.

They have a caf/gym. Im not sure what she meant with the lunch bags.. Maybe Alex just leaves it in the caf? i never thought about asking abut an e-mail address... DUH!!

My (ex) boss has that! He has two teenage girls, and I think that's his excuse for having it. He brought it out during a team meeting we had at his house, and my co-workers took turns trying it out. One gal was probably late 20s and was pretty good, my boss was probably pushin' 50 at the time, and he's well over 6' tall ~ That was a hoot!

But you really do work up a good sweat, so who really cares how the kids get fit, whatever works!

Most schools we have been to... they have a seperate playground for Kinders. I know they had groupings of closer age groups for each lunch shift, Not mixing the really big kids with the little ones.

LOL!! I have one for my PS2. I bought a dance pad from Red Octane's website. They make the best ones that don't slide or break easily. My dad bought my little sister a metal dance pad (like in the arcade) last year. She's afraid to use it because it might scratch up their new wood flooring. We need to find some sort of mat to put under it.

Yes, it does make you sweat from all that jumping around!!

They are coming out with DDR for the Wii. I think it comes out soon. It comes with the game and a dance pad.

okay.... Alex told me that he was on the playground, and a big kid came over to him, picked him up, and held him upside down... ***????? They were playing a game, and it was part of the game, and he was gentle about it, but still!! How big WAS that kid!!!



Okay, I really have to go, time to pick him up... I promised him Ice Cream after school!

My bf can't DDR for beans. He just doesn't try! I'm okay at it. My brother is like lord of the dance on that thing! His legs are moving around like crazy!

I like the Disney DDR. That one is fun!!
