I still can't believe my MIL called and told me that the current man she is seeing has a problem.. his "whoo whoo dilly doesn't work" (her words not mine) :scared:

where's the EWWWWW smilie????

anyway, she shared her experiences.. and ahem.. lack of experiences in the bedroom with this guy.

She also told me that she's interested in this "mexican guy who's married but his wife lives in Mexico" .. she wouldn't mind being with him as his "whoo whoo dilly probably works"

 :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :cool1: oh man, I lauhed until I cried.. she's so freakin funny and just odd compared to my straight laced family.
:scared1:

soooo uhhhh, who is coming when now?
I'm a maybe - if we know where we are living then - we might be ablt to swing it :cool1:

DO we not have anyone in their 30's here? It seems like Staley, EMPD, me, Christina are all about the same age. Then Funny, Tinkermell, Alex2k, Alison and Lynn are all around the same age too right?

Andrea

Good morning, hyenas!

Just a few quick posts before I dash to pick up my baby from preschool. It was an OK morning. I asked him if he'd like me to drop him off in front of the school (a teacher helps them out of the vehicle and up to the school door), or if he'd like me to walk him to class, and he said he'd like me to go in. Fine.

So we park, I get him and the "pappack" out of the truck and lock the vehicle, put his little backpack on him ("Ganks, Mama") and then he gives me a hug and says, "Bye-bye, Mama!" I asked if he still wanted me to go in to class with him, and he said, "Oh! Oh, yeah!" :rotfl:

So we walked into class, and he hung his pappack up in his cubby, then sat down in a beanbag chair and asked if we could read a book. I said it was time for me to go, but I picked out the Rainbow Fish book for him, gave him a hug and a kiss, and said I'd be back in a little bit for him. "And I want you to tell me about all the fun things you do today, OK?" He happily said OK. But when I peeked back as I left the room he was looking a little sad and alone. I hope he did OK today. No tears, at least. :thumbsup2

His big brother, on the other hand... He hasn't done any reading homework (15 mins./night) since school started, nor has he completed a very simple project he got last week that is due tomorrow. So I told him that as soon as he gets home from school he must do his project AND his reading. He made a face something like  , and shouted, "I hate school!"

After both drop-offs I made a Costco run, and I must have been feeling guilty, I bought a treat for each boy. DS7 had wanted a calendar for his birthday, and they had a neat 16-month POTC2 one. And since I was getting something for one, I wanted to get something for DS3, and they had these cute Disney "noisy books", the ones with the little buttons? Well, it doesn't just play music, it teaches them ABCs and numbers, and has a little pen the kids use to point at things on the page. Every little bit helps, and it's Disney!

OK, wow. Time flies! And so must I. Time to get my baby!!!

Preschool pick-up today went almost well. Sooooo close, only not! :(

When I drove up in front of the building the kids were already sitting on the benches outside, so I waited my turn in line. The teacher will walk the child up to your vehicle and help him/her in and get them buckled. Or if the parent gets out, walk the child to the parent.

When I stepped out there were only 2 children left, and DS3 wasn't paying attention. I told the teacher I was there for DS3, so she called his name, and he looked up. He got this biiiiig grin on his face as she took his hand and started to walk over to me. He screamed, "Mama!" and pulled his hand out of hers and ran toward me. She tried to catch him, and managed to grab him just as I was holding out a hand to hold him back.

She knelt down and put her hands on his shoulders, telling him that he had to walk with her and hold her hand, that it wasn't safe to run away like that, and that he'd scared her. He was looking down at his shoes, and she asked him to look at her, so he did just briefly, then started to cry. He felt soooo bad. :sad1:

She then let me pick him up, and I tried to cheer him up and also reinforce what the teacher had said, but by then he was howling, and I'm sure didn't hear a word. The teacher said he'd had a really good day, no crying at all (until just then, of course), and that he'd done an art project gluing body parts onto a body shape, and worked with some wooden pegs, and I think done some painting, too. And he really enjoyed the reading time. It's so good to hear that he's doing well, at least in class. I naturally picture him spending the morning with that last look I saw on his face...

So I told him I got the Disney book for him, and he was so excited to try it out! It had a plastic pull-tab to remove, but you had to remove the battery flap to take it out; then inside it says to replace the little temporary battery with 4 AAAs. OK...

Finally get the darn thing all put together, and it DOESN'T WORK.
So we'll go back to Costco tonight or tomorrow to exchange. :sad2:

okay... i wont lie, I have spent most of the day watching the news.... ugh. :sad1: What a day! I was pg with Alex, his dad was a Navy recruiter... I was convinced he would be recalled, and die and I would be all alone with a baby... the first 2 didnt happen, but the third did! My parents were in vegas, and stuck there... of course. So, being the irrational pregnant lady I was, i told my dad that I was getting in the car, and driving down to get them. yeah.... trust me, the last thing you want to here from you pregnant, irrational 20yo dd is that she is going to get in her junk heap of a car, and drive all the way down to Vegas by herself..:sad2: so i stayed home. ugh...

Gosh, what an awful day that was. In our generation I don't think there's been anything like it before.
:sad2:

I used to start work at 6 AM. So I was at work, DH and DS(then just turned 1yo) were still sleeping. One of my best friends (who was a co-worker) called from Georgia, and she was all wigged out. She was asking me if I had heard the news? I asked what she was talking about (at 6 AM there were maybe 3 people in the office, and none of us sat closely together or even really knew each other.)

She said an airliner had just crashed into a building in NYC. I thought, "Oh, gosh, how terrible!" But not any more awful than any other plane crash, right? Why was she so wigged out? I coudl tell she was on the verge of tears. She said they were watching coverage at her office, and as we talked, the 2nd plane crashed into the 2nd tower. She really started to freak out, and I just got chills, thinking, "OMG. This is it. We are under attack!"

I ran to a co-worker's desk who had a radio, and turned it onto a news station and sat and listened. As more people gradually trickled into the office, somebody went and found a TV and wheeled it into a conference room, and throughout the day people wandered in and out, just looking dumbstruck.

I called DH and told him about it. He's a very matter of fact kind of guy, we chatted a bit (like "Holy S*, what are we in for now?") then he got the baby off to daycare and went to work.

One co-worker, who had a daughter (and daughter's family) living near Ground Zero, was a complete wreck, and trying to reach her daughter all day. They turned out to be fine but their neighborhood was so close it was closed off by the authorities, and evacuated.

I remember rushing to get the baby after work, then hugging him tightly as he slept. I watched the endless news coverage, just hugging my baby with tears streaming down my face. :sad2:

I dont know know why it has hit me so hard this year... maybe its the first year I have had a minute to sit down and actually remember, kwim? MSNBC had their actual news coverage from that morning on... DH had no clue what I was watching and had been in the kitchen grabbing a snack. He came into the living room and looked at the TV and dropped his banana... WHATS GOING ON!!!!    it was a little funny!:lmao:

Wow. This anniversary means that it's also the date DH's beloved grandfather died. That was 2 years ago, I think, and hit all of us hard, too. DH's grandparents helped raise him and were very positively influential in his life in the difficult teen years. They are the reason he went to college, and probably a large part of why we have a successful marriage (from their example.)

He was such a great man, so gentlemanly and honest and "do the right thing", you know? I adored him, DH revered him, and he just loved his great-grandsons. DS7 looks a bit like him in the face, but DS3 carries his name (as his middle name), and apparently that honor brought a tear to his eye when he heard. I so miss him.

OMG, poor guy! :rotfl2:

For me that first anniversary (2002) was very fresh, I was crying off and on all day. Ever since then I just get really sad as the date approaches, and a little apprehensive. And flying still kinda freaks me out. I used to love flying, and now I'm just a little anxious, I can't wait for the plane to land.
