hi all,
so I'm at work last night, around midnight we get a run for whatever and it turns out to be nothing.so were returning to the fire house and decide to stop at the local 24 hour store,to get soda, milk, and hot coco for the fire house.so we approach andf a child no bigger than 3 foot 10 inches is stealing ice cream,no biggie there.but the store owner quickly takes his picture and the child goes nuts.i can't say what was said by this 10 year old,but trust me i learned some new curse words last night.so one of my guys says to him, where are your parents and why are you talking like that and roaming the streets at midnight? the kid looks us all in the face and syas come outside, I'll shoot you all, right now.that my friends is a felony,we have peace officer status and threating us is a crime, even worse if you say you'll harm us with a weapon, does'nt matter if you have the weapon or not.my guys laugh and walk away.
he proceeds to follow us to the rig, standing at the window, screaming and telling us to get out of the rig, cursing and spiting. he's saying i'm gonna shoot you all.i never thought of beating the poop out of someone, but if i was gonna he would be it.of course he was around 10 or 11,so i would not touch him.maybe for his 18th birthday :teeth: i wanted to get out of the rig and just grab him, hold him for the nypd.let them figure out why he's roaming the streets at mid night, and where are his parents.the funny thing about this whole thing is i truly believed this kid did have a gun.i did'nt see it,but for a small, skinny little kid.i mean he was'nt even 4 feet tall.he had to much guts, too much i can beat all of you up.he had a set of you know what on him,and to be so small and skiiy.i figure he must have had a gun on him.we now have orders from the captain next time we see him to call the nypd and have them lock his tush up,from there they can figure out why he's roaming the streets and do a investergation to see where his parents are and why hes outside at night so late.

but to be honest if he keeps up on this road, i know i'm gonna find this kid shot to death one night,i work in east new york.it has the higest violent crime rate city wide.i just could not believe this 10 year old,3 foot tall.taking on 5 men all over 6 foot tall.i blame the parents for this or the lack of.btw we have been seeing this kid alot in the past 6 months roaming the streets late at night.he's nicly dreesed and very clean,so I'm sure he's not homeless.

Sad to say, I doubt that kid will ever see his 18th birthday the way he's going...

You know, as frustrating and upsetting as that sounds, it's also very sad. A ten year old, in my world, isn't like that, so I can only imagine the circumstances that have molded this boy into the way he is now. It sounds like he didn't stand much of a chance from the day he was born.

You be very careful and take care. Thank you for all you do to help and protect the public. Merry Christmas to you, your family, and all of your fellow fighters!

My very thoughts. If not dead than on death row in Elmira.

Not a flame, just curious...why didn't you call the cops? A 10 year old has no buisness being out late to begin with. Then he attempts to steal AND threatens city employees. If it were me I'd have had the cops there in a flash.

That is such a sad situation. That poor kid. If hes like that, can you imagine his parents? I would have called the cops for the safety of the kid, especially if you have seen him alone late at night before. He has no business being out that late.

::yes::
did this little pain seem to be on drugs? You would have been more than justified to have had this crazed child incarcerated & investigated right then & there.
the OP was right, too; doubt that this pip will live to get that 18th birthday present. The world is so sad & very dangerous~
please, you & your comrades please take care & Best of Christmases-

hi all,
we notified the nypd, but in the area we work. they are busy with other stuff and a petty theft or harressment is not a big deal.when they are going to rapes, shootings, murders, gun runs, violent crimes and these things happen every night in the area we cover,so being there in a flash is unheard of..one of the guys told this little kid we just called the nypd,he took off.and before you ask why did'nt you guys chase him,if god for bid,we are and while running away from us he runs into the street and get's run over.we are in deep trouble.so we told the dispatcher to have them relocate back to the fire house and they came there and our captain talked to them.not to worry chicago526,i did'nt think you were flaming me and to be honest if i read this from someone else i would have had a million questions too.but in the area i cover it is the most violent in the whole city and the cops are too busy with homicides and felony assault(SHOOTINGS,STABBINGS)and car jackings.that to them this is not a big deal and is held a little,so they can go to higher pirotys.it's sad but true. have a great day all.

It is incredibly sad. That being said I have had that kind of reaction from my 4 and 5 year old preschoolers. I have had tables, chairs, and toys thrown at me, I have been bit and scratched, pinched and had my hair pulled. I have kids threaten to bring in a gun or knife, or get a parent to and kill me. So much rage from such little people, can you imagine what must have gone on in their short little lives to make them this way? It's a shame.

REally sad. Not surprising though as it seems he has virtually no parenting. Man, what a messed up world. As a mom, I cannot imagine the panic I would feel not knowing where my kid was at midnight. Wait. forget that--I would panic at any time of day as I am a who what where and when will you be home kind of mom and since my oldest is only 9, she is never very far unless I have driven her there. Sounds like this kid is left to his own devices far more than is appropriate for his age.

Those parents should be the ones locked up

Be careful out there......people have been shot and/or killed by "children" this age. Sad, but true.

Scary kid. We also have a problem in the Atlanta area....the cops just can't keep up with the violent crime...no way could they respond to something like this in a timely manner. I am sure the police will be dealing with this little prince sooner rather than later though.

No way could I do your job (plus I am afraid of fire)...thanks for all you do!
