Unprofessional...and just inconsiderate! UPDATE #23

Many years back something similar happened to me. It turned out that the stylist quit and could not tell her clients she moved, due to a contractural agreement she had with the salon. I "found" her later with the help of a phone call from an anonymous person.;)

Same here. I got a postcard with her new position a couple of weeks after she left the salon. You might hear from her yet.

The fact that you were told she went into sales doesn't ring true to me. My guess is she's still doing hair but the salon owner doesn't want you to know that.

If you're on Facebook with her, I'd just ask her what's up. I doubt that she's gone into "sales". (Unless one of the suppliers offered her a really great deal.)

I needed a place to vent so thanks.....

Just had a phone call from my stylist/friend....and yes, she is my stylist and we are friends...friends because we have so much in common, enjoy the laughs and times together not just because I pay her to do my hair

She didn't get let go, she had a sales job offered to her with the company she specializes and teaches classes with plus its a position that would allow her more time with her family and she jumped at it which is understandable because family would trump anything IMO.

She is beyond upset at the salon, when she told them she was leaving they had both agreed that she would send out mass letters to her clients but she would phone her closer friends to let them know--the receptionist took it upon herself and started phoning her clients---the owner is very unhappy she did this.

She said pretty much the same thing....that it was unprofessional (as standards in THEIR salon go) and inconsiderate for the receptionist to take "matters" into her own hands and to handle it in that manner.

She was apologizing (and crying) like crazy because she has so many friends upset that they found out this way...she said it wouldn't hurt as bad with general clients but with her friends it is upsetting because she didn't have a chance to get to talk to any of us!

Throughout my whole appt. last Friday she had been thinking of how to tell me and thought she would let me know as we walked outside together but then started tearing up before the end of the appt and couldn't do it. I feel bad that I doubted her as a professional and a friend...I'll miss her as she was incredible at her job but will still see her in "real life"

None of her friends knew except her family.....she's very hurt they didn't wait for her to tell everyone....still so mad that I could spit but at the receptionist but can't wait until the weekend when I can share some tears, laughterand a few beers with my friend

If you are close, any chance she'll do your hair in her home (or yours)? My best friend used to cut my hair at her house. She actually cut several people's hair, after she left a salon years ago.

About a year ago, she gave everyone up to take a full time job as an administrative assistant. I miss her hair cuts, but she referred me to a friend of hers who I've been happy with.

I saw your update, so it won't help, but your situation reminded me of my stylist, who I ADORE!

In early-2006, I got a postcard from her salon letting me know she was no longer there. I went in for an appointment shortly thereafter and they LIED to me and told me she got out of the hair business, presumably to keep me at their salon.

Four months (or so) later, I saw a sign in the road announcing the opening of a salon with my stylist's name. I called immediately, and it was her! She had left that salon to start her own. They had forbidden her (presumably by contract) from contacting her clients and then lied about where she'd gone to gkeep her from getting business.

But all is well. I visit every 6-8 weeks and now she does DD's hair, too! And her salon is WAY better!

between actual real friendship and someone who is in a profession that basically demands a friendly relationship with the clients. I hope that your stylist has gone on to bigger and better things! and according to your update, she has done just that. If you need to be mad at someone it should be the salon owner/manager as they are responsible for their employees actions. Hopefully, you can work this out and not have to find another hair dresser.

clutter: I really don't think it would be anything related to being fired or let go as she is a truly a great person, the salon's top stylist and the owner adored her.

......

If she is good she probably left where she is being paid more or possibly opened her own salon. Look in your local penny-saver type flyer's. I bet you find her! It isn't uncommon to not be allowed to notify the customers.

Also, if you can visit the place walk over to the shampoo girls if you are friendly with one of them and ask where she is! :)

The owners/receptionist will never tell you where their competition has gone.

Good Luck! :)

Didnt see the update! Sorry!
