Is this the pass DVC members get the discount on? If so, will they allow you to drop the first and last days of your stay? We will cruise Sun-Thurs. and arrive Thursday morning at the resort.(VWL) We really just want to relax that day and check out our new home since we haven't seen it yet. Monday morning we are driving back home, so I don't want passes that day either. Thanks for your answers in advance.

I have never peronally bought a UMP but from what I have read in other posts this is common. Unless they change something you will be allowed to drop the first and last days.

Four trips...always got UMPs (or whatever). We arrive at WDW from Universal (Portofino) late morning, and can't wait to get into the parks, but our flight leaves before noon to come home so we drop the last day. Never tried to do both.

Technically they are to include the first and last day. They have routinely dropped the first or last day and not uncommonly allowed members to drop both days. I have heard from members who could not drop both days though.

Do you think there will be any way to know in advance if they will drop both, or will I just be at the mercy of the CM at checkin. I usually like to be better prepared with my planning, than just waiting until I get there. Erin

I don't think you will get anyone to guarantee they will drop both the first and last day, all you can do is try.

These passes are currently called Ultimate Park Hoppers. My experience is that they are based on the number of NIGHTS of your stay and are good from the day of check-in through the day of check-out. I am confused about dropping the first or last days.
What difference does it make if they base the price on the number of nights you stay? OR.....are they allowing you to buy less than the number of nights of your stay? I recall that when we received free length of stay passes with our membership that we were allowed to begin our passes on the date of check-in or the next day. Is this what is causing my confusion or are they allowing this now with the UPH?

Because they will charge you less by the number of days they drop. That way you aren't paying for a portion of days you are not using.

Thanks Dean:) I guess determining UPH ticket price by either nights or days is the part confusing me. I just read on another thread that you could drop your day of arrival and day of departure. So.....if my brain is processing correctly....you would be dropping a night if you were basing ticket price on nights and if basing on days you would be basing ticket price on the days where you are actually at WDW all day long which would be excluding arrival and departure days. Is this right?

Harriett, you kindof lost me. If I understand you final question correctly, you are correct. A one night stay costs 2 days. A 7 night stay costs 8 days. If you had a 7 night stay and dropped the first and last day, you'd pay the price for 6 days. This would make for a much better value as the end result is you'd get the full days use rather than a portion of a first and last day. Still pretty high price for all but those that want to go, go, go.

During our WDW visit at the beginning of January, our adult DD joined us for the first part of the trip (arrival Wednesday, departure Sunday--5 days and 4 nights). We had an old Park Hopper with one day admission left and both DW and I have annual passes. DD used the one day on day of arrival (Wednesday) and purchased UMP for 3 days since she was departing early on Sunday morning. She had no problem leaving off both first and last days. If the CM had not been willing to drop both first and last day, it would have been less expensive to purchase a regular 4-day park hopper and save the extra day for future use. The park hopper cannot be purchased for less than 4 days, but those days never expire so you can always use it during a later visit. The UMP expires on the selected day during that visit, so there is no carryover if you don't make a park visit on one of your days. On the other hand, the UMP includes water parks and other features not on the standard Park Hopper, but visiting a water park during the first week of January this year would have required more fortitude than we have (it never reached 70 deg during the week we were in Florida; meanwhile, it was in the high 50s in Chicagoland).

The CM who checked us in never hesitated regarding the number of days we wanted for the UMP.

Two years ago, we arrived after the parks closed. They dropped the first day and also the last day, as we flew out at 8:00 AM.

We normally buy the UMP since we go to the parks everyday and with the discount it is a little cheaper (or at least was last year).
