I read somewhere that you can pay $89 for Unlimited Internet Access on the ship? Anyone use that? I have told my family we are going to be on vacation and I am staying away from computers!! We are a family of five. If we change our mind and decide to send an email, what are the rates? Hourly?

THANKS!

Teresa

That's $89 for the weeklong cruise, it's less for the 3 or 4 day, I don't know which one you're on.

To just use it otherwise it's 75 cents a minute. Which adds up real quick, you can easily wind up paying a lot more if any member of your family does use it too.

we used the inlimited access because we are internet junkies..sometimes we had 5-10 minutes before an activity and the internett was great.i will tell you this...my husband and i used it and it is monitored by a staff member. we were going to let my brother use it after we signed in and they wouldnt allow it..sos just to let you know

So is it $89 per family, or per room number? How do they keep it straight who's on your "plan"? If DH and DW have three DD's, can all of us use the $89/unlimited? My DD 14 is so addicted to keeping up with friends via email. (I'm going to introduce her to postcards and stamps on the trip! Lol Truly, though, it's neat getting "real"mail from someone on a cruise)
So can a family in one room use the same $89 deal?

ganurse, when did you go?

Serena, The internet package registration is by cabin. The Mrs and I have shared it every cruise we've been on and never has the person running it said anything. I would say you won't be able to do more than 1 person at a time actually logged in.

On both ships, the internet is in two places. On the Magic for a 7 day, it's in the Promenade Lounge for everyone, and adults only in the Cove Cafe. On the Wonder, it's in the Promenade Lounge for everyone and Common Grounds for the teens.

(Edit) The mrs tells me they also added some in The Stack teen club too on the Magic.

I'm so thankful for this Board!! Thanks for all of this info!!!
We're on Magic 7 day 10/4/04.

You're welcome, it's my favorite place to just relax for a bit between scheduled events shipboard. :)

When do you sign up for the unlimited access? Before boarding or can you do it on the ship (and where)?

You do it in the computer the first time you use it, it has an instruction sheet of what to do right next to the monitor. Very automated and easy to do.

My last question about the internet on board....does this $89 get charged to you room and paid at the end or do you put a credit card number in the computer when you sign in the first time. Thanks!!

Like everything else shipboard, charge to the room.

You go thru a sign in process where you have to know personal info about the member of your party who made the cruise reservation in the first place(probably you), then you choose a password. From that point forward you just have to login with room number and password.

Actually the internet usage is "per person" not per cabin so each person would be charged for usage--HOWEVER, if you happen to share your login and password with the other members of you cabin, well, that is up to you.

Sue Ellen

Thanks for the tip....I will definitely be sharing the sign in info with DH and DD's. We won't be on that often, I hope!!
Thanks again for the advice
