This June will be our 4th Trip to WDW but, we've never been to Universal, is this somewhere that we now should be visiting?, my DD's are 8 And almost 7 when we travel and the 8yr old has become a rollercoaster queen :hyper:

Unless your children are at least 48 inches perferably 54 inches I would wait. While they have some great coasters. There are very few things that young childen can do especially at IOA

I agree with Arielsfanmom. We took my daughter when she was seven and couldn't go on 90% of the rides in Islands of Adventure. It was o.k. but not a magical experience.

I love Universal, but like the other poster said I'd wait until the kids are a lil older--I'd say pre-teen to teen. I have mixed it in with my WDW vacation since Universal is a quicker trip. We haven't gone in a few years and plan on making 2 days of it next year with our trip.

I would suggest you post this question on the Universal forum of the Disboards. You will probably get more informative replies:

And yes, there are tons of things for young kids to do at both Islands of Adventure and Universal Studios.

We have three DDs, 10, 8 and 5, and they LOVE US/IOA. In fact, they ask to go there more often than they ask to go to WDW. We have been visiting WDW and US/IOA since they were born and we've never felt there wasn't enough for them to do at US/IOA, no matter what their ages. Give it a try, especially if your eldest enjoys rollercoasters as you've said. :thumbsup2

If they are tall enough they definately need to go.
Both parks are amazing (only a little less then DisneyWorld:)). Also they have a new park (islands of adventure) that is in my opinion the best themed park of all parks i've been too. Including animal kingdom (which of the worlds parks i believe to be the best themed). It also has a cartoon theme which could be fun for the kiddies. You also mentioned that your daughter likes coasters. Well i believe the universal parks to be more extreme then the disney parks. But once again. If your kids arn't tall enough then no point on goin...

Many thanks to you all for your replies, off to measure my DD's now :rotfl:
