I usually spend about $15 each way. I like to be dropped off at the Hard Rock, vs the general drop off area. It's faster to get through bag check and walk to US/IoA.

you can enter any trip and get the current price

only if you "accept" do you get billed (and a car shows up)

cancel and no harm no foul

UBER pricing is not fixed tho so a difference could happen but IME the difference is not large (could be in a busy place with surge prices)

Cancel WITHIN TWO MINUTES ...and no harm, no foul. If you cancel more than two minutes after your ride request being accepted, you will be charged a cancellation fee.

I read it as the PP not even clicking SELECT/CONFIRM. "Cancel" meaning just close out of the app after checking prices.

You don't/can't get dropped off at a park entrance. The first link is to a map of the entire property, with CityWalk and the center bottom. The second link is specifically CityWalk, with the taxi (rideshare, bus, friend, etc.) drop off indicated by the feed star. Back to the first link, while not necessarily to scale, shows Hard Rock adjacent to the Islands of Adventure entrance, therefore closer to the Universal entrance as well

It is a couple hundred feet closer, but the real reason is to avoid all the congestion at the official drop-off point. There are buses, taxis, shuttles, Ubers, and parents dropping off their kids, all competing for the same limited space.
