We are thinking about going to Universal for 1 day when we are in Orlando over spring break. I was wondering if anyone knows of any discounts. Also, is the express pass worth the extra cost?

Thanks

If you are going with someone who has at least a Preferred Annual Pass they could get a pretty good discount on a room and everyone in the room would get unlimited Express Pass, plus they could get you a discount on the park tickets. I think the discount might be only like 10% though. The Express Passes you purchase are good for only once per ride, whereas the Express Pass you get for staying on property are unlimited, meaning you can ride each ride over and over if you want. Just remember that express pass can not be used for Forbidden Journey or Pteranodon Flyers though and that you don't get Express Pass at the new moderate resort (Cabana Bay). Also if you are staying onsite you get early entry, which will be very valuable during spring break to avoid some of the crowds.

We're going to be down there March 21-31st and even though we have a condo rented for that time, we are still staying one night onsite at Universal, just for the unlimited Express Pass and early entry.

Spring break can be crazy busy. I would try to find a way to spend at least one night on site at a deluxe. We went spring break 2 years ago and it killed me to make the reservation, however it was so worth it. We also had early entry.

Going for just one day you will want express passes if you stay off site.

When we went there were no room discounts available. I prebought the tickets online at Universal. They were a few dollars cheaper but had to be printed at home. It was a pain having to drag them around, being used to using room keys at Disney.

I vote for staying onsite also. Once you've toured with a room key you will be wishing Disney offered the same perk. They offer AAA discounts and AP holder discounts. The AP discounts are substantial, like $100 off per night, if offered. Last visit I bought an AP and the hotel discount more than paid for my AP. To see if your dates offer an AP discount enter promo code APH

I booked mine through orbitz/ebates for my trip in Oct! By going through ebates I saved 20% on my Disney/Universal tickets! The 20% comes in a form of check later :) Good luck!

Are tickets for Disneyland available through ebates?

Yes! Go through ebates to Orbitz. Orbitz has a deal right now if you buy so many days you get a day free for Disneyland. Ebates is also offering 20% off. Just look under the activities tab on Orbitz and type in Disneyland with your dates.

Try undercover tourist for tickets. I would check a crowd calendar regarding the date you want to go for Express Pass. We always get Express Pass because we like to do both parks in one day. It pretty much allows us to see everything in both parks. Plus we have little kids that aren't tall enough to do many of the attractions. We split up and one adult does a couple of rides while the other takes kids to a show or to play in a water area. Then we switch, it works for us. If you don't have young kids and are going during on a slow day, you might not need them.

Try the will call option in the future. You get a proper ticket and the kiosks (you don't have to talk to anyone, just go to a kiosk) are fast.
