Universal tickets opinion

We wil be in Orlando from April 29-May 13. I am planning on purchasing 3 adult/ 3 children free tickets at the Universal web site. We will probably only go to US/IOA 3-4 days. My dilemma is do I purchase another adult ticket for my dh on the web site 2 day/3 free, or should I get him the preferred pass to take advantage of the discounts that it offers. This will probably be our only trip to Orlando this year, so I am up in the air about what to do.
