Two adults:
One day or two?
Hotel suggestion?

We are planning on visiting Universal when in California next month. From reading the Unofficial Guide to Disneyland, it seems as though one day would be enough for Universal. In fact, they comment that no matter how crowded/busy Universal is, you can still count on being able to visit all the attractions in a single day.

We are going for 1 day next month. We went in 1994 and used the shuttle. This time we will be driving because we did not like all the stops the bus made. I hope it's fairly easy to find.

As a USH employee one day should be sufficent. Crowds have been Non-existant and the park is usually dead after 5pm. That will give you the chance to see the new and improved Citywalk. The new bowling lanes on Citywalk seem to be a crowd favorite. The Sheraton also seems to be a nice hotel they have shuttle service to the front of US. I'm not sure in terms of price but alot of guests seem to enjoy it. If you have any other questions let me know...

For driving directions, visit the Universal Studios site. They have a really nice map of the area that I printed out. It shows Universal, Disneyland and the airports along with the major roads. They also have detailed directions FROM Disneyland TO Universal.

<font color=navy>It's very easy to get to Universal Studios. I recommend one day there - get there early to avoid the crowds at the most popular attractions, and don't wait too long to ride on the backlot tour. When we went with my SIL, we got there at 4:45 to find out it closed at 4:30 -- summer times may be different - just be sure to check.

If you're going to Universal from Disneyland, just take the 5 north to the 101 north. There are good directional signs along the way. You'll be able to see the famous circular Capital Records building, and you'll pass the Hollywood Bowl. You'll also pass the hotel where Bobby Kennedy was shot and the hospital where he passed away.

We originally figured two days. But the guidebook does read one day is plenty. Just wanted to be sure!
Thanks very much to all! We are looking forward to Universal! That should motivate us to visit Universal Orlando too!! ;)

We did it in UNDER one day last summer. (And a Sunday, at that.) We skipped a couple things, like the Waterworld stunt show, but saw most of what we wanted in a few hours.

FYI: We overslept and didn't get there until around 11, so we ended up buying special passes that give you access to the front of the line for certain attractions. It was GREAT! I walked onto Jurassic Park - twice - and we had NO wait at all for the tram tour. If you have the bucks, and don't have much time, it's DEFINITELY worth it.

What's the scoop on passes that get people to front of the lines? Sounds great!
Are we guests, same as WDW, or we called something else? ;)
What are current ticket prices (using AAA discount)?
Do rides break down at US as often as WDW? :)
What's YOUR favorite ride or attraction there?
TIA!!!

We had a deal last summer that all annual passholder have FOTL acess for the full year of there passes and annuals only cost 65 bucks with no black out dates and free parking plus 10-15 % discounts off most of the restaurants and shops on Citywalk. Yes everyone who comes to US is a guest as well. As for the ticket prices I can't really say I believe they are 42.00 with no discount. I'm a ride operator so I'm pretty sick of all of em ;) My favorite one to work is T-2 and JP... my least favorite is BTTF..I think i've seen the film at least 5,000 times..and I'm not joking either :D

Aren't you glad you aren't the ride operator for IaSW at WDW!?? ;) That would call for therapy at the end of the day!! LOL

I took alook at the loading platform and the work area and I really wouldn't mind working there (IASW)WDW. It's indoors air conditioning no speils..sounds good to me. I had to memorize 15 spiels for BTTF. 3 as a regular ride op and 12 for a lead...And these were paragraphs too. It's still not as bad as the back lot tram tour 45mins-1 hour of speaking. If they get delayed they have to fill in the "downtime" with random facts...

I read somewhere that UNIVERSAL was offering free shuttle service for folks staying at Disneyland who want to visit Universal. You might check their website or give them a call and confirm that.

Also, Universal is not even a day's worth unless the crowds are huge which I doubt since they are always offering discounts--signs that they are not doing too well I would think?
