Hey Everyone,

I am new to this area of the boards but my DH decided that we needed to add a day of US to our vacation since we will be in the area. Since this is an add on to our WDW trip we will only have 1 full day at US or IOA.

My husband went to US about 20 yrs ago (and he is now thinking it may have been the one in Cali, :lmao:) and the boys and I have never been.

The small package we purchased does not include a two park one day feature; which means we have the option to only go to one. We are NOT able to add any additional days at this point.

We are going the second week of August and it will be on a Saturday that we will be visiting.

Our children are both boys ages 7 & 9. If you could only pick ONE park to visit...which would it be (keeping in mind the ages of our children).

Ohh and we are not super HP fans so that does not have to be factored in.

will they go on the big coasters?? If not, then the only things I can think of that they might like (if not interested in HP) would be Spiderman & Jurassic park. They're probably too old for the Dr. Seuss stuff. So in that case, I'd say US b/c they could do Shrek, Jaws, ET, the Simpsons, the Mummy, etc.

Yes, they are both into big Coasters. (forgot to add that part). They are pretty laid back and will try everything at least once :thumbsup2.

I would vote Islands of Adventure, plus it has the new Harry Potter area. Its generally my favorite park anyway, but its a shame that you can't do both. THere are some great things at the other park as well.

Another vote for IOA...they will really enjoy themselves.

Absolutely IOA. My boys are 6 and 9 and loved IOA much more than US. US has more "show" rides which didn't really interest my boys too much.

I made my kids go on the Cat in the Hat ride and they both loved. We even went a second time. We tried the elevated train ride (forget the name) and that was a bust. I made them do the carousel because we had time to kill before lunch and that was also a bust. Uncomfortable seats. And my 9yo was mortified that he had to wear the seat belt.

If by chance it is raining/TStorms (hopefully not!) Everything in Universal Studios except Rip Ride Rocket and Jaws will be operating.

That being said, we preferred IOA, the kids are coaster freaks and Forbidden Journey and Spider Man are pretty cool.
