Universal Studios Chat 6

It's not stalking if you hire someone else to do it for you, right? ;)

I'm sure you'll have a great birthday!

Hey Fly Fly. I was wondering what was taking you so long to start another one of these. :p

Anyway, good luck on your tests tomorrow. I will say a little good luck prayer for you.

As far as Christmas, it's funny you should mention this. We were talking about our shopping earlier. Well I am getting a portable DVD player. I loved the way Cassie talked about it on these boards and I convinced the wife that, this would be a great gift for me. You too, now that I think of it. On the way down to US you could watch movies......just a thought.

Well, my son already started his list. Everything has to do with Spiderman of course.

So we are starting our shopping this weekend....

Tis the season!

Portable DVD player!! Now THERE'S another good idea!!

I used to bring a portable TV/VCR combo in the car with me during trips and then hooked up at PS2 to play DVDs but I stopped doing that because it took up so much room and was a pain. Portable DVD player would be so much easier! Hmmmm!!! ;)

Last year was easy for me to create a wish list...but I got the main things I wanted (my parents spoiled me last Christmas with a new computer, my camera, and the PS2) but I'm satisfied with those I got last year...still having enough fun with them that I haven't "craved" anything big like that yet!! :) I think my parents are glad...except now my mom is going crazy not knowing what to get me!!! :p

Good Luck tomorrow Clare!

I started my shopping last weekend and maybe by Christmas Eve I'll be done...my list gets longer every year. I'm hoping I can do some shopping while in Orlando in December! Everyone wants and needs something from Universal! If not, I'll take it! :)

Love the idea Spidey had maybe I can get that for my boys this year. I'm outta big idea's for them also! I was really hoping I could get away with the vacation but that wont happen...santa still needs to visit when we return.

My son lost a tooth this week, hes 10 and it was a molar. He tells me hes putting it under his pillow for the tooth fairy. The next morning he waked up...tooth is still under his pillow...I forgot!! So as my husband is covering my tracks and telling him he's sure the TF will come tonight just put it back, I turn to my husband and say...Do you really think he still believes in the TF?? So I call him into my room and ask him straight out if he believes. He says ummmm no. I said when did you stop believing? He said when I found my teeth in your jewelry armoire:eek: :p I then asked him why he didnt just tell me...silly question and I could have answered it before I asked it! Of course the answer was because if he fessed up the TF wouldnt leave him anything anymore. So anyway...I refuse to ask where he stands with Santa...I just dont wanna know!! I'm 40 and I still believe...;)

Good Luck again on that test! Is it a one day thing?

Yeah. It takes place during first and second period. Wish it would get me out of English and Stained Glass too, but oh well.

Anyway, I know what you mean about "the vacation being enough." In fact, my parents probably won't be able to afford much this year BECAUSE of all our trips to Universal :p But you know, I am not complaining!!! :teeth: Maybe ask for some souvineers from Universal for a change (bad thing about having APs...parents don't think it is neccessary to ever get souvineers)!

Hmm...if I come up with any more ideas I'll let you know. :p I'm sure you all are curious as to what I want for Christmas, huh? lol...just goes to show how much I live on these boards  ;)

DAMMIT DAMMIT DAMMIT!!!!!!!!!!

My dad just got a statement in the mail that he has jury duty...and what's bad...IT'S NOVEMBER 10!!! In the middle of my birthday trip to Universal!! The day before my birthday!! This sucks!!!!!!! :( :(

That means he won't be there the day of my birthday...AND HE WON'T BE WITH US ON MY ACTUAL BIRTHDAY EITHER!!! :( :( My mom is cussing up a storm because she's upset too. This is not fair!!!!

I had the same experience with my son! He found the teeth amongst my other jewels. He busted me right off and I told him well, now I guess we don't have to worry about leaving anything under your pillow when you lose teeth in the future. So now he pretends he believes which is alright with me
(hard to let them grow up, isn' t it?) He lost a tooth a month or two ago and it was 3-4 nights before the "tooth fairy" got her act together! By the way, what is the going rate for a tooth on Long Island? Here we leave a dime for every year of age, so my son is up to 11 dimes.

Sadly enough, I was busted as Santa too:( My son recognized my handwriting on the "thanks for the cookies note" from Santa.
We will be spending Christmas with my Mom in Punta Gorda, Florida this year and my 4 year old nephew will also be visiting from Connecticut. At least we will have one believer in the house!

I have started my shopping--but only in a small way. I do not want to haul a lot of things down to FL with us since we will be spending the first part of our holiday at Universal. I don't like to leave stuff in the car and do not want to haul it all into the HRH.

My sister wants a gift cert for Sears to put towards new appliances, and I will likely buy my nephew's gift at Suess Landing. I have decided that the best present for my Mom is the gift of time with us, so for her gift, I am going to wrap up a cheap watch or clock and tell her we will be purchasing either plane tickets for her and her husband to visit us in Ohio, or paying for them to stay 2-3 nights at RPR when we return (hopefully) in July '04.

This leaves shopping for DH and DS. Last year we bought an air hockey table for our lower level party room. We were in FL then as well so I only brought along the paddles and pucks and made my son guess what they were. I wrapped a paddle for my husband, another for my son and the pucks for me. I do not plan on a "big" gift this year. I will likely order from Amazon and LL Bean and have the gifts delivered to my Mom's house. I know both DH and DS will enjoy the Smallville series DVDs.

By the way, the UNO Attack game is a blast! We got that last year and it was a huge hit at our NYE party. All ages played and laughed so hard. I recommend it. I have already purchased a set of refill cards (different from regular UNO) for a stocking stuffer.

I guess I am babbling. Is that what this thread is for? Please advise.

Yes, this thread is for "babbling" :teeth:

Anyway, I noticed the "same handwriting" thing too when I was in elementary school but didn't piece it together until my mom and brother told me a year or so later.

lol my mom used to give me $2 or $3 whenever I lost a tooth and then as I got older, it became much more painful to lose teeth and she uped it to $5. The most I got for a tooth was $20...but that's because I have a huge phobia of the dentist and she threatened to call me up an appointment if I didn't get it out myself. Needless to say, I got it out...and got some good money. :teeth: ;)

And you'll be in Punta Gorda??!?!? You'll be passing right by me! Punta Gorda is just a bit south of here (Venice)!

Hi Clare.....Just been reading about the jury service. That's bloody awful!! I do know you can get out of it for illness - is there anyway your dad could get a bad back so he can't drive there? Perhaps your mum could work out on him - no I don't mean that to read as it sounds!!:p What i mean is if your dad strained himself doing something or lifting something - or maybe sprained a foot so he can't drive there! - Just means you would have to push him round in a wheelchair (:p ) at the parks!! My mother actually got out of it because she said she would get very nervous listening to the case and she said the stress would exacerbate her blood pressure!! She got let off on those grounds. I really hope he can think of a way out.

hmmm that's true! We're going to try to see if we can at least get the jury duty postponed (my mom didn't know you had the ability when she broke the news to me). We'll see how that goes and go from there. :)

You can also get out of Jury service if you can prove you have already booked a vacation stating that you would lose the deposit and would cost you! Then say you are willing to go as long as they reimburse the cost.......but perhaps it would be better for all concerned if mine was postponed for another date! That has worked with a friend! Anyway, I really hope somethings sorted out for you.

Must tell you this.........just now I went in to my bedroom and there was Louie one of my cats lying in my bed with it's paws outside watching the television (which was left on when I was working a little while ago). and he went miaow to me and stayed in the same position, didn't move....sooo funny. I don't encourage them in the bedrooms, just the study upstairs, so he knew he wasn't allowed....:p It turned really cold today so I guess that's why. :D

FLyFly--sorry about the Jury Duty problem. I would have said something in my earlier post but I think you and I must have been posting at the same time and I did not see your sad/mad post before I started on mine. So......sorry for your lack of luck. Perhaps your Dad can call the Jury Commissioner (that is what we call the head of Jury Pool here in Ohio, don't know what they call them in Ohio) and show that there are confirmed reservations for those dates and that he will be willing to serve at a later date. I hope it all works out for you and your family.

Boy, the "toothfairy" here is quite cheap! Luckily my son seems quite delighted whenever he gets any $$$.

Yes, I'm in Punta Gorda 3-4 times each year visiting my mom. We often visit friends in Venice of hers we knew from Long Island--but I don't streets or anything.

Hmmm!!! :)

Anyway, back to your question on the other thread...

the exam went OK I think. Won't know until I get the results but boy, some parts were a bit tough. Math part was pretty easy...just some basic math, algebra, and geometry which I understand a lot better than when I took the test 2 years ago. The writing grammer part was pretty easy too...but what got me was the vocabulary. How do you prepare for that kind of thing? Study a dictionary??? No way! So, of course I didn't know all the "big words." I knew some of them though, mind you. :p

Hopefully I've improved since my score 2 years ago (I don't remember what it was...but it was somewhere in the middle. I don't know if that was good or bad for an 8th grade... ).

Well, if you visit Venice when you come down, maybe we can plan on meeting up to say "hi" (maybe both your group and my parents and I plan on lunch or dinner at Applebees or something...who knows). lol I would think we could do something local...but...nothing to do here! except for the beach, but you already know that!! :p In fact, I *think* they are tearing down our movie theatre in November? I don't remember...that was the latest rumor. Haven't heard anything in a while though...

:jester:

It sounds like you did well. Do you know a friend of mine actually boasted that he read all 1042 pages of the "dictionary"!! Cryptic crosswords help alot I think with lateral thinking. You would be surprised - lots of words can be broken down too and guessed - especially if you know a bit of latin. Anyway, I said I was going nearly an hour ago...so really must...might be back for a quickie after I've had a bath.....;)
