Universal Studios attractions that we miss...

I miss the Hitchcock stuff you could do after the show. I loved going upstairs and using the binoculars to try and find the apartment room with the murder.

I miss Kong, bummer they took it out especially with the new movie being released and all.

I remember the AT&T phone thing, or signs for it. I'm not sure if I ever went in it, though. Does anybody know what it was?
From the Summer 1991 Guide map I had in the closet:

"How to Make a Mega Movie Deal" Presented by AT&T
Watch how a young man's career skyrockets when he wheels and deals his way from studio mail boy to movie mogulin this hilarious Hollywood farce! From the drawing board to the Silver Screen, you'll learn how to make all the right connections.

I don't think I actually saw this during that visit so I have no memory of what was actually there.

Also show on the map are:

Opening in July, the Wild, Wild, Wild West Stunt Show

Production Tour - A personalized guided tram tour of famous Hollywood landmarksand metropolitan set streets from your favorite movie and television shows.

Ghostbusters show where Twister is now.

"An American Tail Theater" in San Francisco.

Plenty of references about Universal Florida being the working largest film and television studio outside Hollywood with production happening all the time.

Not that this is an attraction, but I wish I had picked up a copy of the Universal Studios VHS park overview tape that was hosted by John Forsythe, I believe.
I bought a program the other day that allows you to fix image stabilization on videos. My original camera didn't have stabilization built in. So, I have video that goes back to around '94 at Universal. I had bought the camera in '92, but for some reason, I thought I shouldn't take it with me on trips because I didn't want to mess it up. How crazy is that?
Anyway, does anybody remember the John Forsythe video?
Also, Fellowship9798: Thanks for posting the stuff from your park map. I have some of those and they are really cool to keep. They're worth having years down the road.
Thanks,
- John

You're welcome. Yes, the old park maps are interesting to pull out after 5 or 10 years and see what's different from then to now. At least to me. I've got the whole Central Florida collection from '91. Universal Studios, Seaworld, MK, Epcot, Disney-MGM Studios, etc.

Something I had forgotten about until now was that I saw a TV special where they went behind the scenes of the Dynamite Nights Stunt Spectacular, if I'm not mistaken. They showed how the guy in the boat that gets blown up at the end had only a few seconds to hit a button saying he was clear before they blew the boat up. It was cool. I hope my memory is not getting crossed, though. :earboy2:

And if my memory is correct - the music was from Miami Vice? That has been awhile. Is a matter of fact, we went there within the first two weeks it opened and alot of the rides weren't working right. They had a hell of a time. We got so many free tickets to come back. We were also there one time when they were live taping at the pyscho house, I believe it was Pyscho 3.
It didn't have any of the original characters. Some fun times.

I miss them all!!!!!

I think the music was from Miami Vice. Also, I think they filmed part or all of Psycho 4, which was a pretty good movie that starred Olivia Hussey, at USF.

I miss Kong and the actual tour of the Nickelodeon studios. I know I am an adult but I loved the tour regardless. LOL

i always took the nick tour.........my favorite one was when they featured Ren and Stimpy............such wonderful memories........and one of the best tours ever for me.

i skipped out on the kid sliming portion at the end of the tour.
no kids with me that day

I miss Kong! I'm so glad that my family got our picture taken with King Kong holding onto us...at least we'll having something to remember him by! :sad1:
Honestly, that was one of my favorite attractions ever! Maybe it's just because I was younger, but I thought it was very realistic and exciting. Wasn't there also fire in it???

I also miss the Hitchcock show. Remember the 3D part of The Birds? That was great.

One thing I wouldn't mind if they got rid of? Earthquake!

Do not miss Kongrontation, but do miss the Hitchcock theatre..I am from the UK and can somebody tell me why they do not close the 'Lucille A Tribute'?

Does anyone actually like this?
