Universal Package Questions??

We have visited Universal twice in the past but have never stayed in any of the hotels there. Do you have to pay for your package in full when you book or how does it work? What is a nice hotel to stay in? I am lost when it comes to Universal!!!

i have stayed on site for many years.

i pay one night plus tax as the deposit.

when you check out, you pay the remainder of the bill.

i have stayed at hard rock every time.

I think if you book a package, it's $50 per person deposit. My travel agent called to book us a package and the Universal person told her it's a much better deal for us to book room only and then we should watch for specials on tickets online and buy the tickets separately. So that's what we're doing. We paid a one night deposit on the room, and will pay the other 2 nights when we arrive. We're not going until early June 2007, so we'll wait a bit to buy our tickets, but there's almost always a special on the Universal website.

I have yet to see a package that was cheaper than purchasing individually at Universal. And all the hotels are nice, it just depends on your taste. When will you be going? Hard Rock will be undergoing room renovations in the fall.

You can get great hotel discounts using AAA and less great using AP's. You can get five day tickets for $99. Check into doing the individual route before you sign up for a package deal.

They may or may not charge one nights deposit on booking and balance is due at check-in - what they want is a hold on a charge card for the amount as there is no guarantee you will pay at check-out. If you think about it how can you pay at check-out without a CC hold?

So Hard Rock should be complete by then. You will love it! You can't book hotels online yet for 2007. You can, however, call and book. Before you book a package, check into the AAA rates and since you are staying for a week, you may want to get annual passes (or at least one). You can check which rates will be cheaper without actually having to buy a pass until you are sure it will be beneficial.

Five day tickets are about $99. Check out the individual cost of booking hotel and tickets separately before you commit to a package.

we booked a package through Universal vacations. We needed a $50 deposit per person and had to pay off the balance 45 days before arriving.
