Did I miss something?

When did Universal Orlando / Islands of Adventure Single Park Admission go up to $88...with tax $95.87 - WOW!

When did this happen?

I have just come across a blog post from "The Official Ticket Center" that reveals that Universal has already increases its 2012 ticket prices. Though publicly they have not broken the news yet.

Evidently there was a ticket increase according to the website.

I haven't seen anything in the local media about the increase.

I guess they beat Disney to the punch this year. Disney's increase shouldn't be far behind.

I'm going to combine this thread with the other thread on the same subject.

i never noticed the increase.
didn't see any mention either on UT about it.

when disney increases their ticket prices, it will again, be higher than UO tickets.

happy that i renewed my AP before this happened.
got skunked one year on that for an increase...

when ticket prices go up, the AP rates sometimes increase too.

Disneyland just upped their prices, so WDW won't be far behind. Some of Disneyland's prices are incredible. My daughter purchased a premium AP when we were there three weeks ago for $499 and it is now $649. The pass has no blackout dates and gives room and food discounts Craziness when Universal's identical pass is still $259!!! Their 1 day, 1 park tickets are $87 before tax and 1 day hoppers are $125. I guess Universal is in line with $88 and $123 respectively. At least the Universal Annual pass is still a bargoon!!!!!

I agree! I just renewed my Universal AP at the end of April (was due to expire the first week of May). With tax it was a little over $170.00. I still spend most of my time over at WDW, but since I go 4-6 times a year and usually spend at least one day each trip over at Universal, $170.00 for just those 4-6 days at Universal is worth it. My husband is not as big a WDW fan as I am, so will only go down there once or twice a year. We bought him a WDW AP when we were there in Feb and will have to buy him a 2 day 2 park pass for Universal when we go back down there in Oct/Nov. His 2 day 2 park ticket will I'm sure cost more than my AP renewal did.:sad2:

Universal AP renewal rates are an amazing deal.

HEY RED-1, RED-2, or RED-3...(sorry-I can't tell y'all apart...;)...)

For my son's "regular" ticket, If I enter the park, but decide later I'd like to upgrade to an AP for him too, do y'all know if they allow that?
I called a CM yesterday, and proceeded to thoroughly cornfuze them!
I'm hoping to be able to do the "AP Early Hour" with him-if it's available on this trip.

TIA! :thumbsup2

Sorry G4B...didn't mean to hijack.

Yes you can upgrade, you just pay the difference. :thumbsup2

They sure do allow that. Just go to guest services before you leave the park.

your son's ticket can be upgraded to the AP.
like the other poster stated, you pay the difference.

if you are 95% sure you are going to upgrade that ticket, do it before right away so you can take advantage of the discounts and perks the ap offers.

if you both have an activated AP, then you both could do the early entry if that special perk is available at the time of your trip.

you would need to have the ticket upgraded at guest services outside of the park.

i'm guessing i'm Red #2 today...........

Doesn't surprise me... they will be having to claw back the money from the failing Simpsons ride.

1-2-AND 3!!!
LOL...WOW!...
A RED TRIFECTA!!!!!!
Just bought my 1st Universal Studios AP after years of missed discounts and perks. :sad1:
Gonna probably just upgrade his at the park, unless I catch a timely hint of the next price increase. Too bad UT doesn't offer APs too!

Unfortunately (or at least from what I understand) AP's can only be renewed one month prior to through one month after the expiration date... which means that it's not possible to renew your AP early if you get wind of a price increase. I was apparently unlucky enough to have purchased my AP closer to the end of the year which seems to be too late to save money if there's a price increase. My advice... if you're going to get an AP anyway, go ahead and buy it now!!!

I recall people purchasing before the last increase. Not sure if they purchased more than a month in advance. I'm sure someone will pop in who has personal experience with it.

This is true, you have 30 days before and after your expiration to renew. If you try to renew 30 days after your exp. date you have to pay full price.

30 days out from renewal is the earliest you can use.

last year i called on the 31st day out and was told to call back the next day.

for years i had the under $100 cost for the ap renewal.
once parry hotter came to town, prices went up.

can't complain.
saved a lot of money over the cheaper years for the ap renewals
figure everything has increased since 1993.
