Universal military offers

The info I found says that the discounts are valid for AD and RET as of 2015. I certainly hope so....we are staying at RPR in less than a week for 8 days on a MIL rate and we are RET. Pervious stays we have used the AP discount but this time the MIL rate was lower.

How did your stay go? Any problems?

Where did you see that information? I've never seen a room discount that applied to Retired Military, only Active.

I'd be curious too, as I have only seen the active and retired discount of a package (as announced, now that I think around 2014) hotel and tickets, 3 to 5 days, and I didn't think the savings was that much. Plus, I don't need a ticket.

Active Duty and Retired also can get discounted tickets from the ITT offices. I don't think you can buy them directly through Universal.

I can't find where the hotels say what MIL means, but I think I remember seeing only Active Duty.

This is what pops up when you use the MIL code on the Loews site for RPR:
"Rate Description: Active Military members can save up to 30%. Plus, you receive FREE Universal Express Unlimited to skip the regular theme park lines. Must present valid military ID at check-in. Not combinable with other offers/discounts. Other restrictions and/or blackout dates may apply. Theme park tickets not included."

I'm actually going to RPR this weekend. I used the APH rate for my reservation, since I am Retired Military, but I will ask at the desk during check-in about the MIL rate. Maybe I'll get lucky! Although, I think for my dates and the room I was getting, the difference was not too great.

Because I have two trips booked with Loews, I have sent them an email asking if my MIL discount is going to work or not. I don't want any surprises. I also have a friend that is at RPR right now and it going to talk to someone at the front desk and also ask these questions. I will post back when I hear something.

So I would like to know what you find out. My husband is also retired and I just always assume that military discount applies as long as you have a ID card, which we do. I have a room booked for August in NOLA and Orlando in Sept. Now after reading this I am worried. If I budget and plan for these stays for with only the money that I need and I get there and they don't let me, what will I do? If they charge me another price I will have to sleep in the car!

We check-in on August 4th at RPR and I will try to report back about our experience. I probably won't report back right away because I tend to staff off-line during my vacations. I'm hopeful and don't think it will be a problem. I do remember telling the customer service person doing my reservation that my husband was retired but had military ID. Nothing was said about it not being allowed. So we shall see.

WOW! I completely forgot about this. We typically use our APH rate. We used the Military Rate maybe once or twice and my Dad is Retired. We booked over the phone and just showed his ID card at check in.

Just to report back, we used the MIL discount for our stay with no problems. Glad to hear others have found the same.
