I need some advice on the UNIVERSAL MEAL DEAL. Has anyone used this? Is it worth purchasing? Seems like a good deal for an ALL DAY USE......

What Say YOU?

i have used the meal deal a few times but only when my stays onsite are at least 7 nights.

and, i only buy them for the studio side to use them at Louie's and IFFF.
(i like the pizza and meat ball subs at louies and at ifff, i really like the fried chicken dinner and their salad)

i pick a day that i don't plan to do much on rides as i will have a bag and my camera with me for when i do the MD.

it gives me a chance to go slow and shop, do picture taking, see extra shows and people watching.

if i had a short stay, i would not be buying the meal deal.

the program begins around 10:30/11:00 when the restaraunts open.
no breakfast is included in the MD.
the program ends 30 minutes prior to park closing.

if you go to Louie's and do the line once and decide you want another slice of pizza, you need to go thru the line again, order, then check out.
if you eat at a busy time, this can eat away from your park riding time.

the beverage is not included in the meal deal.
there is a separate beverage deal you can buy for that day.

check the menus for the park you are interested in the meal deal.
decide if they have foods you would eat or eat twice.

if the parks are open late, you could easily do an early lunch and dinner before the plan expires that day.

you are only restricted to park and restaurant in using the meal deal.

if you are going for a one or a couple days in the park, you might prefer to chose other places to eat instead of those on the list.
only 3 places per park are included in the MD.

ive done it both ways.. if you are going to eat 3 times or so its worth it for sure almost worth it if you eat twice depending on what you eat.. haha last time i did it i got some burgers for the ride home.

I did it when we had some free vouchers for it. It was worth it when it was free.

I really don't see it being worth it. It's roughly the price of two meals. So you need to use it 3 times to make it worth while. It also limits your choices.

Best bet is to try it without for one day and keep track of your spending and if you think it will be worthwhile try it out. I'd personally rather spend a little more and have more choice than be limited. Not to mention that some of the options can have long waits, so if you do want to get the value out if it, you are stuck waiting in line a second time.

Thanks to EVERYONE that replied. We are only doing 1 day...... So, I think I will forgo the MEAL DEAL, and take advantage of some of the other eateries that aren't on the list :coffee:popcorn:::thumbsup2

you are making a wise decision.
spend your one day doing the parks.

check out the menus damo has in the sticky thread.

boulangerie is fresh food, and really good.
blondies also has food made fresh.
both places have deli style sandwiches.

there are a lot of great counter service places.
the only problem you might have is trying to decide which ones to choose.

Just want to second that the pizza at louie's was really good! I did end up getting a second slice, but there was no one else in the place:)

My girlfriend and I did the meal deal back in may when we went together. I have been to the parks about 15 times in the past year and I never did the meal deal because it seemed pricey. Once I tried it out, I loved the meal deal! It is really worth it! Maybe im just one of those people who don't care to eat at all the more fancy places in the park. Food is food and if you eat 3 times or more during the day on the meal deal, you get your monies worth.

For a one day trip, yea skip the meal deal. I will be there for 9 days this winter, I will do meal deals on the days I plan to eat lunch and dinner (seeing the parks at night and staying for the concerts and parades) at the park. The days I will be having lunch only, no meal deal. Besides, for me, eating park food is part of the experience.:thumbsup2

I would recommend Thunder Falls Terrace at IOA and Finnegan's at the Studios. Both are very good.
