Universal might "hurt" a little this year because Disney's is sure making it easy to stay with them a little longer. As a matter of fact, is almost the same cost from staying 3 nights as it is 6 nights.

I want to stay on Universals property, but my monies will not allow me to.

Has anyone heard of some really good Universal packages or ticket sales, becuase I'm sure they are working hard to "compete" with Disney!!! :flower1:

Well, so far they are not working hard enough for me. I had planned on spending 4 nights at the end of our 14 day vacation at the HRH. I was hoping for a good ENT rate, but they have not come out. It has been rumored that they may not have any due to the fact that they are doing so well. I have now decided to go ahead and spend those last four days at Disney (at AKL, decent AAA rate so far).

I even tried to book HRH for 1 night and just spend 2 days at Universal, but they had no availability for a one night stay on 8/13. I could stay 4 nights, but not just 1 night, go figure.

I'll keep checking. Hopefully after 1/02/05 they'll give some awesome discounts to try and entice some of those Disney folks over. I'll keep m fingers crossed.

Hey djm, just noticed we'll be there at the same time. Where are ya' stayin? :flower:

At All Stars Movies or Caribbean Beach Resort for 6 nights and Cypress Point for a week. I was hoping to stay a few nights on Universal's site.

Discounts at the Loews properties seem to be becoming harder to come by and then the discounts are not that great anymore. For what I had been paying for club is now what they want for a standard room. No way!!! We will just go in off season when crowds in the parks aren't issues and stay at the BWV's using DVC. Now that Disney has offered a nice discount to dvc members on the AP's we will spend more time at Disney and one day at IOA.

are the hotels actually Universal or is it just they are on universal land?

They are on Universal's Property. I watched a special of the Hard Rock Hotel on the Travel Channel. It was beautiful. They have a little "beach" onsite at that hotel. They have 3 hotels, but they are all very expensive and they are nice regular rooms (they have suites, but I didn't dare ask for that quote). 4 night quote for my family of 3 was $1400 during summer 2005. Way more than what I wanted to pay, but the travel channel has given me a goal to reach!!!!

Thats what I thought so really its unfair to blame Universal for the price increase in rooms as it Lowes who decide the prices etc where as Disney own it all and can work hand in hand with the parks but I think the interesting thing is why Lowes hotels are turning guests way with high rates Disney obviously are needing guest which is y they are cuting there prices which is good news for guests

Disney is going to hurt their Jan and Feb. sales if they don't let you price out the packages including the dinning plan.

They are allowing people to upgrade for no additional cost.

We are all still waiting for DIsney to tell us! They said they would let us book on Jan2 and that is for people going in Jan and Feb! Unless you want the more expensive old packages.
