Universal Lockers story

I hope you are taking the necessary precautions. You do know that sharing keyboards can be very dangerous. :rolleyes1

DM-DisneyMom-

WOW! Congrats. Sharing a computer can lead to....other sharing.

My Daughter And I Just Got Back From Orlando, Last Week. Our Belongings Were Stolen Out Of The Mummy Lockers. We Got A Locker Assigned Through The Computer, Went On The Ride, And When We Tried To Get Our Belongings Out, It Wouldn't Recognized The Fingerprint Scan. The Cm Opened The Locker We Had Put Our Stuff In, But It Was Empty. After The Ride Closed, They Looked Through All Of The Lockers, Twice. My Purse And Other Items Were Gone. They Had No Explaination For Us. They Did Call Pop-a-lock To Cut Me A New Car Key, But That Was It. They Refused To Take Responsibility Or Liability For The Theft Of Our Items And Leaving Us Stranded In Orlando. We Are Very Disappointed In U.s. Particularly, Since We Were Annual Passholders For The Second Year. So, Riders Beware!

Maybe it had something to do with the red button? That seems to be causing a problem.

Sounds like a very scary situation!!!

I was thinking it might be the button also. Often people forget to push the flashing lock button. Someone can get your stuff out and then shut the locker and lock it.

I'm surprised they didn't give you money. I know they have in the past when someone lost a certain amount of money.

That would be very upsetting! phamton, do you hear about this happening fairly often? Is this a new system with the lockers? Think they may revise it again? Do you feel its human error or locker error?

No one seems to think it is locker error but human error. I talked to my son about this story tonight.

Here are some of the problems they have had with the lockers:

People will often look for a locker that is not locked and stick their stuff in there without renting a locker. Later someone else will rent a locker and find someone's stuff in it. This happens several times a day.

A less common occurrance is when someone rents a locker correctly and puts their stuff in it but fail to "lock" the locker. It automatically locks in a few minutes on its own but in that short time, someone can open your locker and get your stuff out. This happens a couple of times a week.

The least common occurance which happens periodically but, rarely, is someone rents a locker, puts their stuff in and locks the locker. Someone else comes along and tells the locker attendent that they can't get their locker open. They give the attendent the wrong locker number (which belongs to someone else.) They then have to tell the attendent what is in the locker. The attendent verifies that it has the correct items and gives them to the person. Luckily this procedure has changed because of a few thiefs. Now the attendent has to ask for identification before releasing items. He checks photo ID in the locker to make sure it matches the person claiming the stuff. I even had to show my driver's license to retreive some items once and this was with an attendent that knew me very well. In all the cases like this that my sons knows about, the person has been reimbursed for all of the stolen items including the money as this is Universal's mistake and not the guest's.

Thanks for the reply phamton. I figured it was probably human error. The people that cruise for an open locker are just looking for trouble and you would think they could figure out what could happen doing it that way.

Thanks for the heads up on the situation!

That IS scary! I don't care for the new lockers! I can see how you would start forgeting which lockers you have had if you use the lockers all day! My vehicle also has a delay in locking if you lock it from the back doors. I always wait to hear it "latch lock" so I always tried to do that with those lockers, too.....which my DH found quite irritating to wait for me to catch up. :goodvibes I liked the old ones with the paper receipt you scan to get your locker open.

I'll have to be careful using these! I probably won't have to since I'll probably just bring w/e is in my pockets. Thanks for the heads up :)
