Universal & IOA in one day??? - First timers

Yes! I cannot wait ... when going to US/IOA which area or ride should I tackle first? I would most likely go on a week day (during the last week of August).

You still need s two-park ticket to ride Hogwarts Express.

To all of you awesome folks! ... I've decided to do one park each day. As a first timer I'd like to take it all in even if we're lolly-gagging. As I'm researchng and finding more and more cool rides, I rather not feel rushed to visit another park. Next trip I'll know exactly what is what and decide to do park to park. Thanks to you all.

You will have so much fun exploring the parks for the first time!

It is certainly possible, especially if you have Express Pass and mostly want to ride the rides. But you'll miss out on a lot. Universal is every bit as themed as Disney, and there is so much to see. We've always spent 2 days (1 at each park, but our last trip preceded the Hogwarts Express). Next trip will be 3 or 4 days with park-to-park tickets.

I'm glad you decided to take more time to yourself to enjoy the parks. The first time would really take awhile, especially if you want it to all soak in. There is so much you want to do it seems, but once you experience it and come back, you realize what you want and know what you want to do, so it takes less time. Hope you enjoy yourself!
