I am taking my boys to Universal 1/20/17 to 1/23/17. This is my first time to Universal and I have a couple of questions.

I have been reading about the express pass. Do you think it will be necessary over that period of time in January. I would expect that to be a less busy time, but I wanted some expert advice.

I have taken the boys to Disney and they have really enjoyed it. Is Universal just as enjoyable for kids this age, or is Universal more geared towards older kids?

Thanks for your help.

Personally, I want the express time all the time. If I were you, I'd stay at Royal Pacific during that time if you can so you can have the express pass for free with the room.

My son has loved it since he was 3. But, he's a thrill sort of kid! :) There are some older kid things, but I think that boys really love this park. There are superheroes to see. And, Harry Potter stuff is fun to do even if they don't know about Harry Potter. And, Dr. Seuss stuff! At 7, my son was able to ride almost everything. He now prefers Universal over Disney.

You won't need express passes then. You are after MLK Jr day, which increases crowds. We were there that time this year and saw the crowds lower dramatically the day after MLK Jr day. There were a lot of South American tour groups but nothing major.
I think there'll be plenty for the kiddos.

Does anyone know if the potter event will happen again in 2017 in January?

In the past it was held late January
