Last year there was a couple in line carrying a child who had to be about 2. The child was screaming. The parents were off to the side of the line trying to calm the child down. The thing is that they were in line to go in a haunted house, and the child was already screaming.

People who have small kids, don't think the kids will sleep in a stroller once it gets late. It is noisey enough to keep the kids awake. And the house are really loud.

Macraven and I were watching the Rocky Horror Tribute last year and within 10 minutes of the show starting, most people got up and walked out. They obviously had no idea what Rocky Horror was. I seem to remember there being quite a few kids in the audience...not youngsters but teens who just didn't get it.

To true.My DW-DD are Rocky Horror lovers.Myself never gotit.Me and DS were the ones prob walking out.As far as bringing kids,we waited till ours were of proper age.Now all they talk about is how's this year's going tobe.They are hooked!! I do like the music init though.

As far as Bill and Teds,that show is deff not for kids.I did cover my DS14 eyes afew times on this.(he porb knows more then I think from school)But the sight of Trump and O'Donnell is sick enough
I'll probally catch flack over that 1. Lets kick-it-up a knotch!!! Things are getting pretty queit latley on the Dis(darkside)boards..

Its really not bad at all.. If you have ever been to a local haunted house or haunted hayride, its like that on SPEED! Imagine your local haunted house having a Universal budget. DW was EXTREMELY nervous about HHN last year, to the point of anxiety.. After we went through Jason's Woods, she couldn't wait to see the next one! She is bummed that we wont be there for this years HHN!

See trouble is coming from the UK we don't celebrate Halloween so I've never been to a Haunted House or a Haunted Hayride.
That's what makes me nervous about HHN

It's hard for me to judge because my mother didn't believe in babysitters and took me to horror movies from pretty much the time I was born. Imagine being three years old, seeing "Night of the Living Dead" and sitting through the "They're coming to get you, Barbara" scene when your name is Barbara! Couple that with being born not long before Halloween and you have someone who thinks haunted houses are the greatest thing since sliced bread. When we lived in Chicago, we went to as many as possible so of course we LOVE HHN.

But the scareactors really do get very, very close and in your face, and they will sneak up behind you and rev up a chainsaw or jump out when you least expect it. Some of the houses (like Freddy's last year) are very intense for the timid. There is total dark, then strobes to blind you even more, and then suddenly you're face to face with Freddy. If the idea of something like that freaks you, it wouldn't be a good place for you!

Strobe lights in my opinion are the best effects inside the houses,when you see the scary people coming at you with strobes the effect is so much greater.

I have to agree about the strobe lights.

Last year I thought "The Thing" house was really scarey, so did DS. I also really liked the Christmas one.

Sarah I would say go for it,we all love it.If there are any houses with "Saw" like effects just miss them out, it's worth bearing in mind that although the actors do get close ,they aren't allowed to touch you! It really is Halloween at it's best,US really does put a lot of time & effort into the whole show.We are avidly awaiting the tickets going on-sale,it's just a pity that they haven't copied WDW by bringing the dates forward!

We were talking about our upcoming trip and my son who will be 6 is really begging to go to HHN when we go. I really have my doubts, certainly about many houses and shows. But I was thinking that maybe it wouldn't be too bad if he did 1 haunted house, and then just rides. I know that bring my 6 year old goes against everything I have been saying about not bringing little kids, but I really didn't expect DS to feel so hurt at the thought of us going to HHN without him.

I would really think about this. I know he really wants to go but HHN is not an environment where kids would feel comfortable. The HHN crowd is completely different than the daytime crowd and lots of people walk around drinking and smoking (where they shouldn't). You should try to explain to him that HHN is an adult event and he will get his turn once he's older...just like driving a car.

Agreed 100%, the atmosphere is COMPLETELY different. I think there should be an age restriction on HHN events, like 12 or 13 and up.

I agree about second guessing your 6 year old going to this event. As the PP mentioned the entire crowed is different. People were smoking in line, there were a few people that couldn't even stand because they were so drunk. Don't get me wrong, I didn't find ANYONE there rude or obnoxious, they were just enjoying themselves in an environment suited for adults. The entire scene is very dark, smoky, and just eerie looking. US does a GREAT job with all of the effects and props. You can view some of last years HHN shows on YouTube if you would like to see how adult oriented they are. Here is a picture of one of the sideshows. I posted a picture of the girl crouching so DIS wouldn't block my response. If she was standing and you could see all of her they may have

PS - While I was watching this sideshow there was a father there with his DS (about 10-11). The MC you see in the picture called this kid to come on stage. The kid stood there shaking with tears in his eyes. The father then gave him a little shove toward the stage. The kid turned around, smacked the father and ran away crying

I don't think the event gets sold out, but I know the Express Passes do. DW and I did HHN the first day that it opened last year and it was PACKED! A few of the houses had 120+ minute waits a couple of hours into the event. If we didn't have our Express Passes there is NO WAY we would have gotten all of the houses done!

Does anyone know does the Front of Line Pass at the hotels count for these or do you need an additional Express Pass?
