We are considering a trip to Universal Studios in June. We have a 4 and a 7 year old. Will they have fun? What is there for them to do?

There's a play area with water ( I've seen it change from CuriousGeorge to SpongeBob to Grinch - not sure what it is now ).
The 7 year old might love the Simpsons - not sure of the height rqmt, but it's the best ride there.

There's a funny 4D Shrek movie.
Most of the other stuff may not suit kids that young - effects show maybe, but probably not that interested in the tram tour and definitely not the Mummy or Jurassic park unless they're really brave - or the monster show or Terminator.

Even with everything Universal isn't a full day for an adult in my opinion. Long trip for little payoff....not at all like the one in Orlando.
We had ap's for a year on a buy a day deal - went 4 times or so with a 13 year old, but no urge to renew.

I think that the ages of your kids is just a little too young to really enjoy Universal. Actually, many of the rides and/or attractions could very well scare kids that young. Your 7 year old may be able to handle it, but I can't imagine a 4 year old not getting scared to pieces by King Kong (on the back lot tour), Jaws, the Mummy (she's probably not tall enough though), Jurassic Park, the Terminator 3-D show, and some of the other shows and attractions there.

I waited to take our boys to Universal until our oldest was 10 and youngest was 7. Those ages were about perfect to have some fun without getting too scared from anything.

If I were you, I would consider going to Legoland and/or SeaWorld this trip and leave Universal for a future trip.

I was just coming here to ask the same question. I have a 7 and 9 year old and after looking at the rides/attractions on the site - I think it might be too scary for them. Ugh.

We went to Universal 2 years ago and I was not really impressed. I don't think it is worth it, especially with your kids' ages. My kids liked seeing Dora and Shrek, but they didn't really like the attractions or rides (they were younger than yours are now) I think Universal is more geared towards older kids, I would say 10+.

After talking to more people about this, I personally decided to axe it this trip. We'll do it when the kids are older!

I would agree with everyone else that Universal Studios is not for little kids. But if you're going to Disneyland you might like Legoland as well. Or go to one of the beaches, which are about 30 minutes from Disney. There are many other things to do in this area as well.
