We are going to Universal (for the 1st time) for Christmas (Dec 24th to the 25th or 26). We are wondering what rates is everyone getting. We're not sure where to stay, though I have my eyes on the 3 Universal Hotels, and the Doubletree is it (supposed to be within walking distance). We are 2 adults and 4 children. Are you finding it easier to book everything separate? or is the package deal the way to go.

*We are FL Residents & have the AAA card

There are some good Annual Pass holder rates at Royal Pacific and Portofino Bay for those dates. For us purchasing 1 AP, getting early entry and Express Pass is more than worth it.

Congrats on your Christmas trip. We are going for New Year's and staying at the Holiday Inn Maingate, which is right across the street from the Doubletree also within walking distance and more reasonably priced. There is no parking fee as compared to the $12 per night fee at Doubletree and the $15 per night at the onsite hotels. They also have suites available which have a microwave, dishwasher and fridge. We have stayed at DTU for Christmas 2008 and when it was cheaper last year, it's a good hotel but their prices have gone up recently so much that it's cheaper for us to stay onsite anytime except the holidays as we are AP holders. You can book a suite at the Holiday Inn during the holidays for around $135 per night with your AAA discount. A 2 BR suite would be $180 per night. Hope this helps.

Have a great time, whatever you decide :goodvibes

if you can get a room onsite, don't do a package.
it is much cheaper to purchase everything separately. (room/tickets)

since there are 6 in your party, you would have to book 2 rooms if you stayed at rph or hrh.

pbh does have a suite and will allow 6 in it.

i do not know what the limit of people per room would be for the off site hotels.
