We are planning a trip to Universal next year in April over Easter Break. I know they say Disney is very crowded during Easter/Spring break, and I was wondering if Universal is just as bad. Also, does staying at an on site hotel solve the problem of crowds by since you get the Universal Express pass for staying onsite? Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

It is expected to be crowded April 9-16 (not sure when in April you are going.) It usually isn't as crowded as WDW but I would say it would be a good idea to stay onsite so you don't spend all your time waiting in lines. With FOTL, your wait should not be more that 15 minutes even on the popular rides.

We would be planning on April 17 - 21. Have you stayed at any of the onsite hotels? I am leaning toward Hard Rock Cafe. The kids are 13 and 9, any suggestions?

I think it would still be fairly crowded by the 17th. I've stayed at Hark Rock Hotel with my teen boys and they loved it. FOTL is incredible and will make you feel like a celebrity. I like Hard Rock Hotel also because it is so very close to Universal. It only takes 5 minutes to walk and is faster than taking the boats. You can still take the boat if you are tired.

Also when you stay onsite you have priority seating at all the restaurants (except Emerils), which is nice.

So if we stay at Hard Rock and get FOTL, do you think going at Easter is still a good idea? Last year we went to Disney at the end of August and it was just too hot and we have quite a few bad storms.

I think going at Easter is a great idea especially since you will be staying onsite. It won't be near as hot as August and the crowds won't be a problem with FOTL. Having front of the line really spoils you. You'll love it!

Thank you so much for your help........ Now I can't wait!

Glad I could help. I am sure more questions will come up as you plan your trip so just feel free to ask. There are no dumb questions on this Universal forum.

We are going also that week. We booked a room at the Hard Rock for the FOTL pass. Room was only $29 more than the RPR so we thought why not. Does anyone know how much the express pass would be for April.....

You won't need express if you are staying onsite but I thought maybe you might be meeting others there. My guess is $35-$40 per person per park.

If you are staying on site your room key is your FOTL "pass". No need to buy anything else. It's the best perk ever!!
