Is it plausable to spend one day at universal, which closes at 5:00 for the scary stuff which I don't want to do, and drive to DCA for the trick or treat party? would it be just too much? (if we did this, we would stay one night near universal and the other at the Grand Californian. Is that crazy. I have a 12 ds who really wants to go to universal, and a dd who is 6 and really wants to go to the trick or treat party. We only have 3 nights, two days. Is it doable?

Very.

If you leave Universal around 5PM it is likely to take you
90 minutes to DLR. Meaning you should arrive at close
to 6:30PM. So even if you hit very heavy traffic and get
out of Universal a little later there is no reason why you
wouldn't be in the park by 7:30PM at the latest.

:)Were you planning on doing this on a weekday or a weekend? The Trick or Treat parties start at 6:30 on weekdays, and 7:30 on weekends. You'd be able to do this on a weekend, but on the weekday, you'd miss some of the party.
