I saw where someone had said a while ago that you can change universal dollars back into cash when your visit is over. I just wanted to let everyone know that is no longer the case. I think that post was from a couple years ago, but I couldn't find anything recent so I wanted to update.

Thanks for the info! We contemplated getting DD a Universal gift card to exchange for Universal dollars when we got to the park but were thinking this would be too much of a hassle. I think we'll stick with getting a Discover gift card from our Cash back bonuses and then if she has extra money on the card (unlikely, but you never know!), she can use it anywhere.

If you buy something with them, you get whatever change back in regular money. You can take your smaller UO bucks ( like the $1 UO bucks) and exchnage them for $10 UO bucks and use them for small items to get change.

Can I ask where you buy Universal $$$? Can you just get them in the stores?

We have friends going the month after us next year and this would be nice to give as a gift for their children as birthday presents as it is both their birthdays while they will be there.

You can purchase them at Guest Services. I'd go to GS inside the parks as there are not usually lines in there. The GS windows outside the parks is more apt to have lines.

I have been looking for an online source for the Universal Gift Cards for quite sometime to no avail. However, I did find them. I emailed the Universal Merchandise Services and they told me where we can get them. They have them on the Giant Eagle website in $50 increments! I plan on buying a few for our trip! Thought I would share in case someone else is looking for them too.

I hope they still take the universal dollars at portofino cuz I'm paying my hotel bill with them. Where are the guest services inside the park?
