Universal Discounts?

I'm thinking of a quick 3 or 4 night trip to Universal during the Christmas/NewYears school break (if I can get a cheap flight!). I've never contemplated staying at a Universal resort before (always been a Disney person:love: ). What discounts exist or may exist during that time? Posters are mentioning AAA discounts - is that the most common and is there a usual percentage discount during each season like at WDW (15% off low season, etc.)? Any other tips on getting a cheap flight (have DING!), room and park passes would be greatly appreciated :)

If you go the week between Christmas and New Years, I don't think they offer discounts..not even AAA  Check the sticky at the top of the Resorts board here and others will post what they are paying (first page is kept up to date by alexandnessa).... You may be out of luck, as the hotels may already be pretty booked...but you can try. AAA and APH are the most popular rates, followed by Supersaver FL resident rates. You are thinking of going during peak/holiday season, so rates will be high.... You can always call and ask them ...be sure to ask about AAA rate too.

There are still rooms available at RPR for $1296 for 4 nights:eek: which is a little too pricey for me! :sad2:

Is that rack rate? Did they say AAA was available? Busiest time of the year.....

Well, I've decided to go mid January instead. I can get room at RPR, 3 7-day tickets and flight for about the same price as just the room during the holidays! :cool1: Would've loved to see the expression on my kids faces on Christmas morning when they each opened a suitcase full of "summer" clothes with a note that said "we're leaving in ??? hours for Universal" but I feel much better paying 1/3 of the cost for the trip! Now the planning begins.....questions, questions, questions. Gotta get busy reading all these posts :surfweb:
