Depends on what your interests are. We like both.

Hollywood is a real studio and a real backlot with lots of history that has happened there. You can actually see real sets from Desperate Housewives, War of the Worlds, Jurassic Park, etc. You can also see different sets being constructed and used throughout the year, etc (recently we've seen sets from National Treasure 2, Pirates of the Caribbean 1, 2, and 3). It also has some of the popular rides/attractions that Orlando has (Mummy, Simpsons, Jurassic Park), and a few it doesn't (Backdraft, Waterworld, backlot tour). The backlot tour is unlike anything in Orlando and includes things like the original Jaws attack, King Kong, etc.

Orlando is just a theme park, but a very good one. Orlando also has IOA which is another excellent park. You won't find any real backlot or movies being made there, but there's plenty of other things to do.

Incorrect. USF isn't a very active studio, but it is in fact a working studio. Those soundstages aren't fake. If you attend HHN or go through the soundstage corridor for any other reason, you'll notice that their walls are lined with gold plaques of all the things that have been filmed there.

What movies have been filmed there lately? I'm not knocking Universal Orlando, it's a great park. Both Disney and Universal tried film production in Florida but it didn't fly. It's too far removed from the business. The few things that have been filmed there pale in comparison to Hollywood's backlot and soundstages.

Beethoven the reel story is shooting now. Bring it on again: In it to win out is out in the video stores.

TNA Wrestling on the Spike Network.

Stuff is happening. It's not on the scale of USH, but it's production none the less.

Never been to USH but have been to USO several times and to be honest I really don't care if its a working studio cause I love the parks anyway and also don't know if it counts but the do TNA wrestling there:lmao:

That's true but remember Universal Hollywood has been there since 1925 and has been a major motion picture player ever since. I like USH although it's been a long time since I was there. I loved the Psycho house, residential street, Jaws and the "parting" of the lake. Universal Orlando has done more television production than movies and I think the reason is exactly what you said...too far from the business.

The one thing I love the most about US Orlando is the Men in Black ride and that doesn't exist at the park in California. However, they really are different parks. Depends on what you are looking for!

They have a lot of similar rides however, what rides USH seems to have that USO has also, the rides at USH are better. Most notably Jurassic Park ride, the USH Jurassic Park ride is absolutely tons better. Backdraft is an awesome ride which they don't have at USO!

I've been to both, too many times to count and I still think USH is a lot more interesting. It's a lot more laid back also, not so touristy feeling and there are TONS of rides there also. The backlot tour there has to be one of my favorite rides of all the rides between USH/USO/DL/DLP/WDW. I am also a big fan of the Earthquake ride at USO and that's tied into the backlot tour at USH.

Plus, my favorite part that they could never have at USO are the hills and huge escalators. Looking down the way from the top onlooking the Jurassic Park/Mummy/Backdraft area is one of the best views in LA!

Four = Tons?

Also, while your own opinion is still valid, roughly 98% of the people who've ridden both Mummies (and compared them online) prefer USF's version by a landslide. I just thought that was worth pointing out. USH has the superior Jurassic Park. Most other attractions the parks share are identical.

For the USH vets here!

*any word of when new Simpsons will open; i'm assumming same time frame as FLA

*traffic-wise, coming from Anaheim area; which is "quicker" weekend or weekday

*ditto question for crowdspopcorn::

(apoligies to OP for partial hijack of thread - questions have been asked on DL threads, not much response; thought i'd take a shot here;) )

The tram tour has been a favorite for 25 years. There is not equivalent in orlando.

Please point out where you got the statistics you are quoting. Where did you get the figure 98%? Add me to the 2% who you say prefer USH Mummy. It's much better IMO, including the much longer backwards portion of the ride.

I'd say.. dark ride portion = USF, coaster portion = USH.

Both of their best elements combined = best ride ever.

USF does have that fake ending, which is pretty good when it's working. :goodvibes
I think the mummies that jump down in Hollywood are better, though. Plus I prefer the ending in Hollywood.

I liked Mummy at Hollywood better too. I also liked Jurassic Park at Florida a lot better than USH.

Overall I prefer Florida.

Well the Hollywood version is shorter. I'll just tell you what some team members told me. 4 team members who were on the opening crew at Mummy in Hollywood, came to Orlando to try out the Mummy here. They all still worked at the Mummy in Hollywood and this was when both rides had been open almost a year. They expressed that the Mummy ride in Hollywood did not measure up to the one in Orlando and also mentioned that they felt Orlando got the better ride since they have more people visiting their park. They also were given a backstage tour of the ride. They love their ride and the story line but were very impressed with the Orlando version. Now all of this happened before Mummy in Hollywood got an update with a few more effects added so that opinion may have changed.
