I am reading "The Unoffical Guide" and they make mention of backproblems. Has anyone else used this guide and are their warnings for people with backprobelms accurate?

I just don't want to ruin my vacation by doing somthing stupid...

You should be okay. The only one that I would avoid is Back to the Future. I love that ride, but it jerks you around alot so it could affect your back.

They have warnings on all the rides that I feel are somewhat over done, but they have to protect themselves. I have some back problems and was fine on all the rides. I agree, you might want to skip Back to the Future--especially in the back seat!!

It also depends what kind of back problems. They dont know what conditions you have and the rides may or may not aggravate them, so it is hard to tell. Rollercoasters and jerky rides (BTTF, Jimmy Neutron) are probably best skipped, but it is up to you and it depends on what kind of back problems.

I have a herniated disk in my back, but I can do any attraction just fine...

Herniated disks???? I have heard that ,that can be painful.

I have problems with both my back and legs. Depending on the day - a bumpy road hurts... I just don't want to be sorry after riding something too violent

Better to be safe than sorry. That could totally ruin your trip.

Skip BTTF and Earthquake then, and go stationary on Shrek and Jimmy Neutron. You can request no spin on CITH. You may even want to consider skipping Spider-Man (a cardinal sin to some ;))

Spideyhulk-herniated disks hurt depending on their location and if there is a pinched nerve or not. Pinched nerves = excruciating pain.

My FI mom has back problems too and she rides pretty much everything. Only thing I would't go on is Back to the future, its not a roller coaster but it makes me hurt!! You could go on everything else in USO I would think.

She will ride the roller coasters once or just pick one roller coaster and be okay. I know she has problems with a spatiac nerve and some other things from a bad wreck many years ago so I am not sure how the two of yall would compare.

I know my FI hurt his ankle real bad at a hotel we were at the first time I went so he was in a wheelchair and many rides have handicapped areas where you don't feel movement. THe two I rememeber definitly having it off the top of my head at T2 and Twister.

That's very cool that they have handicap areas. I was nervous about the trip and thought I would be doing a lot of shopping instead of riding.

I also have a sciatic problem that stems from problems in my lumbar spine - from a bad car wreck as well. Why can't people watch where they are going???

I agree with avoiding Back to the Future- that really messes me up.

Funny thing about bad backs and IOA. My back was pretty close to 'out'. I had been to a chiropractor here at home a few times, but he couldn't seem to straighten it out. In the meantime we went to IOA and I rode Hulk 4 times in a row, and then visited my good old chiropractor in south FL. Before I went to see him I noticed my back had improved quite a bit. I asked him about the coasters and back problems (like mine) and he said that the Hulk probably did help my back- all those G'ssss ;) .

So next time my back goes out, I know who to visit!

I had the sciatic nerve pain too! When I had it I would not ride ANYTHING. After my surgery, though, I waited 3 months and was fine on everything. :)

You are sooo lucky Dark Marauder, They won't fix my problem - they said the dangers outweigh the benefits....
