I read the main page of the FAQ & it says to only make reservations a few days in advance. Is that realistic? I know it might not require 180 like Disney, but it isn't weeks? What about character meals?

I usually make adr the morning of or the day before

If I were going during summer school vacation time or dec 22 thru Jan 1, I would make ressies about a week out

I agree with what macraven says.......we've never made a dining reservation even for character meals. Don't need them usually.

Exception maybe is the superstar breakfast in the parks. Although friends of ours walked up to that one recently.

Holidays are an exception. But even then, a week or so out at the earliest. Same day is usually fine.

You may not need to but if you prefer to make them early most restaurants are on Opentable and you can click through Universal's website to make reservations or if its at a resort their website. I think you can make them between 45-60 days out. Most were open around 60 but I know Mythos didn't extend that far. I usually call for special events/character meals whenever they open.
