I had heard that you can only light a unity candle at certain wedding locations. Is that true? :confused3

I was married at Sea Breeze Point which is outside and my EM advised against having a unity candle because of the wind/breeze.

If your getting married at an outside location you can rent a "hurricane" globe which will stop it blowing out!

We had ours back in the UK pavilion. Laura and Diane tried to talk me out of one but I really wanted our Unity Candle. I thought that with the Hurricane would would be fine b/c it is really well protected back in that courtyard. End of the story is that we were fine, but I could not believe how windy it was even back in there.

we had a unity candle (we brought from home) at the yacht club gazebo & it was beautiful.

Here's an idea and you get the same effect so to speak. Have two glass cylinders with different colors of sand in each. When it is time during the ceremony, bride and groom each take a cylinder and pour sand together into a larger cylinder. It will still signify the two becoming one!! It looks so cool.

Whatcha think?

Blessings,
Winnie

PS: I make unity candles with the wedding invitation on it. I just made one today for our vow renewal on July 22nd. I'll take a picture and post it as soon as I can.

justengagednicole, the middle one we made & the 2 side candles with roses i bought from exclusivelyweddings.com
