I'm looking for air fare from Toronto to Orlando in February online and some of the cheaper fares say United Airlines operated by Air Canada and check in with Air Canada has anyone had experience with this?

It is fairly common for airlines to code-share flights. In this case both United and Air Canada sell seat on the same plane. Both airlines have different flight numbers for the same plane. You need to check in with the operating airline.

A few years ago when my Dad used his Aeroplan miles and got us Business Class seats from Toronto - Orlando, on our way home we checked in at the United Airlines 1st class line in MCO with no problems, because the Air Canada line was very long.

I know what I said has nothing to do with your question, however it's another example of how both Air Canada and United work together since they are both Star Alliance members.
