United keeps making small changes to my ressie

What happens if they keep changing the time 15 minutes here and 10 minutes there? Can they mess up my ressie to the point they have to totally change my flights?

There are flights I would rather have because of the times but the cost was higher. So I purchased the cheaper ones. Wondering if it would ever happen that I could end up with the better flight anyway

First, how far out is your trip?

Second, call the airline and ask if they'll change the flight for you. The worst they can say is "no."

You should read the rules of carriage for the airline. It will tell you what you have agreed to by purchasing a ticket.
Usually if they change it by more than an hour or two you can ask them to change your flight.

I've done that with Delta. They changed my flight times so I asked for something better for no additional. For example, the latest departure I could get with miles was 12:30pm. They changed it to 11:30am. I called and was able to move to the 6:30pm which is what I really wanted. Airlines have different rules about how much the time has to change before they give you a different flight for free. It sometimes depends on who you talk to, so if they say no, try calling back.

Trip isn't until May but in the last 3 days, they have already changed the flights twice. The first time was flight number and the 2nd time was only by 15 minutes and flight number again. I know the flight number doesn't matter but it just got me to thinking

If you ignore the changes for a few months and then the cumulative change gets big enough, then you hand pick alternate flights you would like and call to request them.

Flight time changes of 10-15 minutes are insignificant. United is merging with Continental; there are bound to be schedule changes for a while.

Right, but five 15 minute changes can add up to more than an hour. Since the flight isn't until May, I'd let it go for awhile and then call United to see whether they can change to the flights they really want. This has happened to me on United and Delta and I've been happy with what I ultimately got.

This is happening to us too (April trip). I was able to move to another flight of my choice because of the changes. It ended up working to our advantage because we were able to get onto flights that better fit our needs (based on some changes at home since we booked). It can't hurt to call and ask if you would rather go at a different time (both flights we moved to were less crowded than the original ones we booked on).

ETA: They told me they could completely refund my tickets if the flight changed by 2 or more hours.
