Sorry, I just had to vent--this is SO ridiculous, I truly am stunned.
We booked thru US Airways which apparently contracts thru United. I got an email that our flight had been changed--I had to read it 3 time & call DH over to read it, too!
Yep, our Omaha flight is at 1:46PM and somehow we are now to connect to a 9AM flight in Ohare (yep, same day)??!!
So a call to US Airways establishes this apparently is a common thing...United changes things on the weekend but US Airways doesn't get updated flight info until Monday--brilliant.
It appears there are plenty of seats for a flight close to the original connecting time & the gal said call Monday and they could get it all cleared up.
Only bummer is we are in Vegas Monday..don't really wanna spend any of my couple vaca messing w/ their error...OH WELL

Same thing happened to DW and I with Delta. We researched other available flights for our travel dates before we called Delta. We were able to change our original flights (one paid ticket & one FF ticket) from so-so times to great flight times. We now arrive at MCO before noon instead of 10pm and our return flight leaves at 11am instead of 7am.

Do your research first and politely ask if your desired flights have available seats.

Good luck and have a great trip.:cool1:

Sounds like a great opportunity to get to WDW earlier and have more fun!

Seriously, don't get bent out of shape on this - the airline will work with you to put you on flights that work. Just call them and ask nicely.

I'm having this same problem. Will the airline charge if the new flight costs more than the original?

No - they changed the flights so they will honor the price you paid.

I have had that happen before on Delta. It is no big deal, just call and they will switch you to whatever flight works best. The agent actually laughed when I told her my connecting flight was leaving before my first one landed. We couldn't figure out a good way to do a mid-air plane change.;) Sometimes you just need to have a sense of humor when dealing with the airlines.

That exact thing happened to us on Delta last year. I never received ANY communication from them regarding the change and their system did NOT flag the error.

I only noticed the problem because I went online to get my flight numbers so I could register for DME. I just happened to skim over the times and lay-overs and I spotted it.

Our arriving flight landed at 1:05 PM but our connecting flight left at 11:15 AM!!!

So I call Delta to see what is up :confused3?? I decided to play the "give them as little information about why I am calling" game. I kid you not, it took being transferred to THREE agents before any of them spotted the problem. When the 3rd agent finally figured it out she said, "Ok, so how can I help you?" at which point my Disney like attitude flew out the window and I demanded a supervisor immediately.

The supervisor claims it would have been detected eventually and that it happens frequently. WHAT???? Uh, our flight was only 3 weeks away so at what point would it have been detected?? AFTER my flight landed and I was told my conecting flight left 2 hours earlier??

Yikes!! You really have to be on the ball and check your flights every month and confirm one last time the night before you fly.

I'm not sure what you hoped to achieve by playing a game with the Delta agent. It sure didn't get your problem solved faster, and probably made you look a little mean.

Just a reminder, once you book your flights it is a good idea to check your flights at least once a week. The sooner you see a change the sooner you can fix it.

You shouldn't be waiting for the airline to notify you. It's in your best interest to keep an eye on the flights.

Nope, not mean at all. When I tell 3 different associates that I am calling about a problem with my connecting flight and NONE of them is smart enough or trained well enough to spot it, then we have a problem. It's no wonder the airlines are all going belly-up. They keep raising rates, adding more fees and providing terrible customer service.

Moral of the story: check your flights frequently because the airlines certainly won't fix a problem unless the customer brings it to their attention.

Sigh. Would it have really been that hard to just say "Hi, I noticed a schedule change in my reservation that will not allow me to connect to my connecting flight. Can I select a different flight"

No need to play games with Delta to solve a simple problem!

Maybe their service wouldn't be quite so terrible if the customers would just tell them what they needed up front, and didn't waste their time playing guessing games. I'm sure any customer service agent would be willing to help fix the problem if they knew what it was without having to guess. I know if I had to play 20 guesses with a customer I wouldn't be too happy by the time I figured out what they needed. Why make something easy difficult?
