If anybody has been on an international flight with United recently is there enough room under the seat for a backpack!

I'd be surprised if there wasn't. Usually you'd put a carry on suitcase in the overhead and a smaller bag (backpack) under the seat in front of you.

Of course if you're in a bulkhead seat, there is no seat in front of you, therefore no room under the seat.

Yes. The planes they use for international are on the bigger side and have room for a backpack under the seat in front of you (assuming you are not in the first row).

It would depend on the backpack, but generally there is room under the seat for a "personal item." International flights tend to be on widebody aircraft too, so there might be slightly more room.

Thank you! The last few international flights we went on 5 or so years ago were with different airlines and both of them their space under was small only had room for one of those drawstring bags so will be great to be able to take a regular one.

Depends on the size of the backpack, but if it is of "normal" size and not filled full busting at the seams it should fit. The only issue is if it's long and fat it could hit the small compartment that houses the life vests for the seat in front of you. Typically that isn't an issue, unless what you have inside is rigid.

That's fairly unusual. What type of aircraft was it?

I've brought this bag onto multiple international United flights and I was able to fit it under my seat. I usually fill my bag to the brim with stuff and even then it was able to fit. Any bag of a similar size or even a little bit bigger will be fine.

Yes, we fly United Internatioally (to Europe and Asia) often. I have even been able to fit my Vera Bradley Weekender bag under the seat by smooshing it a little bit.
