We booked our flights through Virgin Travel Store months ago, with United Airlines. I've just rung them to enquire about February half term (think it's going to be too expensive for us unfortunately) and they've just told me that they are no longer selling United flights because of the problems United are having. This is extremely worrying as we've (me actually) arranged everything independently, flights+car+villa+tickets etc. I've no doubt we'll be protected as Virgin TS is abta bonded and they have something called Sheduled Flight travel insurance (or something like that?). My worry is that if our flights suddenly disappear altogether (we travel on 1st August), there won't be any availability then and we'll be stuck!
Has anyone else got United flights arranged? Does anyone know anything about United's position?
Thanks,
Ian

Ian,

I don't,I hope someone else has some news that could put your mind at rest though:(

Ian

we travel with United in less than 4 weeks......we booked through United Vacations.

I have been thinking about their situation recently, wondering if it will all go smoothly.
I think someone posted a few weeks ago about a flight from Washington to Orlando being cancelled but I haven't heard anything else. There website usually gives up to date press releases.

United A|irlines

Ian

I have also got united flights from manchester for this christmas
also like yourself I have booked a villa & car independently, but i also did this last year just as United entered into chapter 11 & there was no problem at all we flew on a code share so our flights were with BMI to Chicago & then onto Orlando with united i have flown with many carriers inc virgin, monarch, airtours, etc and i must say BMI were the best, I hope things go well for you if this helps i go on this website http://airliners.net & go onto the forums you will get a lot of info about all airlines from there as a lot of the people on there work for most american airline company's,

P.S.
AS I WRITE THIS THE WEBSITE I HAVE GIVEN IS DOWN SO YOU WILL HAVE TO TRY LATER. :)

it was me who posted about UA cancelling our flight. We flew out 3 weeks ago and back last night with them. They're certainly still flying but did have what they called a 'minimum' crew on board (stewards I mean)...no reason was given. Service was still fine and we had no problems:)

We are flying in 7 weeks with U A. We are going from Manchester to Washington with BMI then Washington to Orlando with U A, same on return thats what it says on my booking conformation. We to have booked everything seperate.

Minx

Minx, that's the same route we're taking (only in about 9 weeks)
Thanks all for the replies and the links Cath and Wildcats, it's good to hear that you found BMI to be good, we weren't entirely happy last year when we flew Virgin (we've always been happy with BA). I'm looking forwards to seeing what BMI are like, presuming our flights haven't disappeared into thin air by then.
Thanks all.
Ian
