I'm currently temping at this place that has a unisex bathroom for most of the office people. It is basically a toilet and a sink. I don't have a problem with the unisex part, but what really bothers me is that the guys (well at least one of them) doesn't put the seat down. Now I don't want to start a toilet seat war here, but knowing that we all have to share this bathroom, wouldn't you think whoever it is would put the seat down when done?? Seeing it up, skeeves me out and I then walk all the way to the back of the warehouse to use the ladies room back there. (at least the length of 2 football fields.)

I don't know, if a man can't remember to put the seat down in the bathroom he shares with his wife, I don't think he'll remember to do it in a bathroom he shares with female coworkers. ;)

Not trying to start a war here, either, but honestly, I've never understood this one. The guy has to lift the seat before he goes, why can't we lower it before we go? :confused3 I'd much rather walk into a bathroom with a raised toilet seat, than a tinkled-on one. :rotfl:

Well, at least he lifts it BEFORE he goes. I'm still working on that with my boys.

I find them to be cleaner!

You wouldn't believe the disgusting things I see in the women's bathroom at work. I actually dry-heaved today.

It wouldn't bother me at all because I never sit on a public toilet seat.
The thought of it gives me the heeby-jeebies!! :scared1:

I'm a squatter all the way!!!!

The rule in my house is that no one leaves the toilet cover up. So both men and women have to raise something to use the toilet and both men and women have to lower something after using the toilet.

Equality -- it's a Good Thing.

we share a unisex bathroom at our office and I figure if the toilet seat is up, at least they lifted it and didn't pee on it.

Just my observation!

Be careful what you wish for. I finally got my husband to put the seat down. Then he never lifted it again. He just pees on it. Most of the time he wipes it off, but it still grosses me out a little.

I feel the same way! It doesn't bother me at all.

Yup, this is the way it works in my house too. :thumbsup2

Eh a raised toilet seat never bothers me. Usually DH puts it down, but sometimes not. I look so it's not an issue.

In the interest of equality, why don't you raise it for the guys when you are done? :confused3 ;)

And yes a tinkled on seat is gross. BLECH.

::yes:: i have always thought this too.

Thats how we are too! Otherwise the kitties like to drink the toilet water and that grosses me out!

Plus I see some really disgusting toilets in our ladies room (the employee one) from those that hover...THAT grosses me out!

Ew, if I make a miss I always clean up. That's just good manners. I some times wonder where people leave their manners or if they were issued any in the first place.

We have a unisex bathroom at work, but we are lucky enough to have a urinal as well as a toilet. So it really doesn't bother me for the most part. HOWEVER, a few months back the toilet seat has been left in the upright position. About the time the new guy started.....things that make you go hmmm!

I just use my foot to lower the seat.

I don't mind putting the seat down for dh, it's just some random guy in the office I have a problem with. I guess I'll just walk down to the ladies washroom from now on.

DH lives in a house with three girls, he has been outvoted, and the seat goes down.

Again though, the guys have to raise AND lower the seat for some random women in the office. I am sure they have other manners at home. ;)

On American Inventor they had this guy who made an invention to cover the toilet when you fluch it, a filter kind of thing. Apparently when you flush lots of lots of germs and other stuff get shot into the air (he showed it with an infra-red camera). Man, was it gross. My question is, though, why not just close the seat, and you won't need that invention.
I was always pretty good at putting the seat down, but after seeing that show, and what gets thrown into the air all around me when I flush, I am now president of the seat-down-club.
