I have a child who will be 10 on our next trip. We would like to purchase the dining plan. Who can I call or e-mail to ask questions about his medical issues that wouldn't allow him to eat as an "adult". Thank you for your help.

From all reports, they will not make any adjustments for your issue. There are many situations and people who cannot participate fully in the DDP (feeding tubes, gastric bypass surgery, etc.). The best recommendation is to not buy the DDP for your party.

You can ask on the DISabilities board, but I believe the folks over there will just confirm what I said.

You will have to buy the adult plan for your child no matter what your medical issue is. However, at restuarants they will completely work with you on what your child can and can not eat.

And I wouldn't feel deprived, passing the Dining Plan by. While some families perhaps do get a good value from it, it's really not the best approach for most of my friends and family members who visit WDW. Most of them, including my own family, do better just paying for what we want.

This gets mentioned on the Disability Board alot. The response is always the same: The DDP doesn't work for everyone, but Disney can't start making adjustments for each individual or everyone would want it adjusted to fit their situation, consequently everyone in the room must be on the DDP no matter their situation. You could pay OOP for his meals, then use his adult credits at a Signature restaurant for you and your husband or just to book more ADRs (say breakfast and dinner a few nights, instead of just one for dinner).

Do you have a younger child in your group whose meal could be swapped with the child who has the eating challenges? My dd9 will be 10 on our next trip and of course an "adult" by Disney standards. She eats pretty much pasta and peanut butter. Our younger dd7 will be 8 when we go and is an adventurous eater. I'm just going to have the 8 year old order what the 10 year old would want and vice versa and they can swap plates. Not sure if that is an option for you though.
