Unique Baby Girls names??

I have had seriously rotten luck choosing unique names. When I was preggers w my 15y old, I thought Heather was an unusual name! :rotfl2: Whats worse~ when I was preggers w my 18m old, I thought Ariel was an unusual name :rotfl2: :lmao: (If she's been a boy, his name would have been Ace Joaquin... now THAT's original!!!) However, the good news is, I have 2 lovely sweet healthy daughters :cloud9:

It really won't be the end of the world if a child has to "share" her name with other children.

I just wanted to make sure I chose names that would fit both a little girl and a grown woman. I didn't want my daughters to be 35 and stuck with a cutesy toddler-sounding name. I imagined my girls' names with a "dr." in front of them and an "attorney-at-law" behind them.

Their names are Natalie and Paige.

Good advice - hard to imagine "Dr. Precious Princess Smith" or "Ecstasy Jones, Attorney at Law", or "President Strawberry Anderson". ;)

My daughter is "Analeigh Sue". I love the spelling and receive positive comments every day on her name. HOWEVER, it is difficult whenever we have to register for anything!! :)

Good luck all!

DD name is Roxanne Carmella The middle name was after my grandma. She goes by Roxy.WE have gotten wonderful comments for years about her name.

My DD middle name is Minako. Her Japanese Grandmother helped us pick it out.

I am one of the people whose initials spelled something. I was SAG until I got married. Try putting that on a sweater! :rotfl: So be careful with initials!

I almost never hear my younger DD's name, Annelise, pronounced just like the two names: Ann-Elise. She answers to nicknames Anna and Annie, but Ellie could work too. I still love it. I've only encountered one other girl with that name, but spelled Analiese (I'm sorry, but I would never put "anal" in any of my children's names!), I've read about one in a magazine, and our pastor knew an Annelise decades ago. Anneliese was Anne Frank's full name, too.

how about QUINCY i love it and you will always be able to find a Q- no one else has a name with Q

Unique spellings are a challenge for kids (and teachers and businesses), I think.

We tried to avoid that, because our last name is often (almost always) misspelled. DS's first name still sometimes gets an "e" instead of an "i" but no biggie. I don't know why people use an e, when I've never seen it that way, and it's very common last name, but again, no worries.

We did the best we could. :)

Three posts in a row for me, LOL.

I've seen Quinn for a girl a few times and like that as well.

And someone (famous?) named their girl Harley Quinn, which is kind of fun.

HI! Everyone! Well we have a very Precious Baby Girl! After all these great names that were given and my niece wanting different she went normal! The Baby was taken by C-Section because she was what hey call footlink breech ! I was there for the entire thing it was the neatest thing I have ever seen! Well as for baby's name ! I have a nephew that is deceased which is the brother of my niece who had the baby girl! So interestingly enough she had her on his birthday so his name was Tyller and she named the baby
Tayler after him kinda that was the idea! so she is:

Born: September 23rd, 2006
Time: 11:02 am
Name: Tayler Rose
Weight: 6lbs 4 oz
length: 18 1/4 ( she's going to take after mom shorty!lol!)

Thank You all who gave these great suggestions there were a few that were in the running until the date of the c-section then that was the deciding factor.

Thanks Again keep this going for those out there that may still need sugggestions! :goodvibes

Congratulations! Best wishes to your niece and her family! Is this your first grandniece?

My daughter is Alyssa (very common), but I really thought I was having another boy, anyways, after the fact I wish I had named her Aurora, such a pretty name! Good luck, always a hard but fun decision!

To think I just found this thread and guess what I have an Aurora..

I named her after Rory Gilmore.
We call her Rory or Rora for short. We loved the name Rory, but knew we needed a good strong name to go behind it..

So we say we named her after the Aurora Boreallis (?) as we could see it from our house in New York. But her dad works for GM so he says he named her after the car..

I then pipe up and say I named her after Sleeping Beauty.. Which is something that she lacks.. Also Aurora means dawn. So that is when she is up..

Congratulations! That's a beautiful name, and meaningful. :)

To the Aurora people - our cat came with the name Aurora and we also call her Rory (me) or Rora (everyone else in the family). I had a friend named Rory at summer camp a million years ago.

OK, here are some true stories from when I worked as a social worker.

Fellow social worker had a mother trying to pick girl names and asked SW what she thought of pa-ja-may. When friend asked her where she heard it, she said she was looking in a catalog and thought it was pretty (pajama in Sears catalog!)

Same friend had a childhood friend named Crystal Shanda Lear ( no I did not make that up!) :rotfl:

These were the worst names I heard:

Nike (yes, the shoe)
Miata (yes, the car)
Aquanetta (yes like the hairspray)
Aer Jordan (yes the basketball shoe)
There should be a law against naming your child after a tradmarked item!!! :lmao:

I love Galen, Kennedy, Chloe, Zoe, Skylar. I named my DD Olivia.

We chose Kallen for our daughter's name and when she was born my husband changed his mind. After 30 nameless hours she was finally our Ella. She thinks she is named for Cinderella and wears her Cinderella dress every day.

Well after going through every single baby name book I recieved and the library held; I finally came across a 1940's Baby name book. Started in the A's and never went any further. There it was just starting perfectly in my face to our daughter. My husband I were one week away from her birth before we had her name. She's half italian and irish and I dont like popular name so we name her

Aniella Paige Morgan -

Aniella ~pronounced ~On-yell-a

(which in NJ Paige is only a little popular)

I like the older names. We wanted something simple yet elegant for our child. However we had a boy.. So he naming him Olivia was kinda wierd. So Benjamin it is. However our girls names were

Olivia
Grace
Sophie
