Unique Baby Girls names??

OK... I read most of the pages and did not see the name "Jori." I knew a girl in high school with this name and have never come across anyone else with that name. I always thought it was really pretty!

My mom's name is Senga (agnes spelled backwards) it is Scottish. It is pronounced (sang-ha)...I was threatened by my mom if I was ever to use it, as she hates it...no one can pronounce it properly, so we have a Kaitlyn and I used my mom's maiden name for my son's middle name.

I did read all the pages and did not find my name, so I thought I 'd share. My name is Jenica (Jen uh ca) not (Jen e ca) I have always loved my name but do run across people pronouncing it like Jen e ca with a long e and that kind of drives me batty. My mom wanted to name me Jennifer and my dad wanted Jessica so they mixed them together. I have heard it a few times but the girls are always way younger than me. We named our daughter Savanah Kay. Which I have loved as a name since I was a kid. We don't know any other Savanah's as of yet. I have some nieces with some unusual names also.

I know a friend of a friend whose mother did that because she thought it was a pretty name and she also thought it was the name of a flower. Well shortly there after her name was legally changed....LOL


My girls are Keri Elissa and Lillian Elisabeth (we call her Lilli)

In DD's kindergarten class were:

I have a friend born in December. So you guessed it. Her name is December. I think it is pretty. She goes by DeeDee.

My DD is Bethany. Not unusual at all, but not common either.

An older name that I like is Maribeth.

I met someone named Tisha. Not short for anything, just Tisha. I like it.

We chose Zoe for our DD (7). Love the meaning: Life (Greek) It is starting to become a bit popular now but there isnt another Zoe in our school.

I have 2 boys but the girls names I had picked out were: Anastasia Marie - Anna Marie for short (so glad I had a boy) and then Meghan Elizabeth. I taught for 6 years in a very ethnic - diverse school system in VA - you wouldn't believe some of the names some of my girls had! My sisters name is Samantha (NOT Sam!!) nieces are Courtney and Haley, cousins are Chloe, Kayla, Shayla... I also love Autumn, Summer, and Spring.

On a lighter note, some people at our church years ago had the last name of Korn. They named one of their daughters Candace, which soon became Candy. "Hello, my name is Candy Korn."

I also knew a family once whose 3 daughters were named after alcohol. They were Brandy, Sherry, and Ginny. They always got teased about what they would name a boy. Bud? Jack Daniel? Tom Collin?

When picking names...stick to something you 1) love and 2) means something to you. DD has a Gaelic name. In Boston, we have TONS of kids with Irish names. We wanted an Irish name but since Irish names are so common here...we didn't want her being the 10th Caitlyn or Kailey or Michaela in her class! So we gave her a name that I had only seen when I was living in Ireland. Just be prepared with any unique name- you will have tons of people mispronouncing it

....growing up I've always hated days with substitute teachers...and still cant stand when people say "I'm not even going to try this one"..And while I cant hate my mother, its her name as well,….I have to say I’ll never Do that to one of my kids….

This is my nieces name and no you don't see it much anymore - but don't think of calling her Sam or Sammy (well some people do and she answers but she doesn't like it) my sister started calling her Mantha or Manthies and so that is what we call her.

I'm a Samantha and I was the only one in my school with that name. When I was very little alot of the kids in my neighborhood and my brother couldn't pronounce my name correctly and it came out Mantha. I loved that nickname! Thanks TnTsParty for reminding me of it! I love having a name that is some what unique that people can pronounce. When choosing a name for my DD I wanted to have her have a unique name too. We decided on Grace Lillian. I have yet to meet another Grace her age and her teachers will never have a problem pronouncing it.

Okay, I made it through about the first 10 pages, but haven't read all 23! So forgive me if my DD's name has been mentioned, but I kind of doubt it since I've only heard of 1 other girl with the same name.

It is Leighton (pronounced "Lay ton")

(and yes, I know it's really a boy's name in the baby books, but I thought it was pretty and sounded more like a girl). I was worried about naming her something so different, but she loves her name!

Mine is Lisa, which was SO common in the 60's and 70's, but you hardly ever hear anymore (thank goodness, because I don't like it! LOL)

My DD's name is Alexia (Alex-ee-ah) Spring. Spring is my middle name also. We too wanted something different but not strange. We have heard alot of Alexa, Alexandra, Alexis but never Alexia. When I was preg we told people we were having a girl but never told anyone the name because we liked it and didn't want anyone to take it. There were tons of people we knew preg at the same time.
