Unique Baby Boy Names

My sweet baby boy is Miles Jean-Philippe. DH and I met in high school french class and loved the symbolism in the middle name.

thought of more tonight (worked in ob for 5 years so i have heard some unique one's!)

Stone
Kaven

or how about the parents who have so far had two children one boy and one girl. the girl has the exact same name as her mother as does the boy.

Here is my niece and newphew.
Mckinlee
Keegan

A friend of mine is Irmgard and another one Mairon (pronounced mare-in)

We are struggling with name right now for D? due in December.

Don't flame me but I am not really for that unique of a name. We don't want common but we have a last name that has to be spelled every time we go up to the counter for service etc. and I don't want our son or daughter to have to spell their first name too.

I am proud of my last name but getting having it spelled wrong allot is a pain...don't want a child with lots of spelling errors.

I agree with the ealier poster who commented on generational names. Honestly, the majority of names posted here don't seem unique to me at all; in fact, they seem rather trendy. What we like, our parents didn't ... perhaps that's why we like them :rotfl: :rotfl: . And, once it hits a television show, movie, or celebrity, watch out....it will soar in popularity! Years ago, I like Jasper, a good old fashioned name. Sandra Bullock's boyfriend in 27 days (or something like that) was Jasper! Today, there are 2 young Jaspers at our rather large church. Madison for girls, strictly a Splash! with Darryl Hannah and Tom Hanks creation; today, a top 10 name.

What I like now, Oliver (kind of popular) Duncan (still a bit trendy), Griffin (very trendy), and Everett ( for C. Everett Coop. Rising in popularity, but not "trendy" yet).

Is there a website or something where you can go and find out where a name was used? For example before I name my child something 'unique' can I go somewhere and find out if there is a character on a TV show with that name?

My son is Erik. I found that names that are actually names and sound like a boy are really unusual now. I also like the name Walden.

I have a Jordan. I really wanted a Jason but thought it too popular. In reality it was really popluar about 10 years before my son and we know no one his age with that name!!

I really like:
Cooper
Braydon
Colby
Avery
Dyllon
Garrison
Michael
Peyton
Quinn
Sam
Luke
Travis
Trevor

Not all too unique but what I like.

Nolan is another one I forgot to mention earlier that is getting very popular in my area as well.

My friend Sara named her boys Carter and Clark. Carter is her mother's maiden name and Clark is her MIL's maiden name, so it worked out well.

My mother's maiden name is Roman, so we debated with using the name when we had DS, but even that name seems to be getting popular. We also considered naming DS Peterson (DH's name is Peter so Peterson = Peter's son), but in the end we stuck with just Peter Jacob and call him PJ.

Since I don't see them yet, DS'

Leif
Laine

Other names
Landon
Jeffrey
Lewis
Jarrett
Russell
Wilson
Van

try www.behindthename.com

This is a pet peeve of mine. I LOATHE trendy and unique names (read: made up) I am tired of the trend of adding "ayden" on anything and making it a name surnames as given names (Carter, Addison, etc) Using boys names on girls: Ryan, Riley. Mc-anything. Noun names Destiny, Cadence, Trinity.......
I understand not wanting you child to be 1 of 10 Alex's or Tommy's or whatever, but please give your child a real name. ...and please no "creative" spelling! One they can use and be comfortable with all their life. Remeber unique, turns into trendy, which quickly becomes common.

Now that I'm over my rant, some of my favorites:

Aaron
Asher
Caleb
Judah
Micah
Benjamin
Nathan
Declan
Andrew
Isaiah
Francis
Thomas
Samuel

My nephew and his wife just had their first child last Monday.

Named him Levi Douglas

It seems rare anymore to have a unique name, as they soon turn popular. My son's name is Noah, if I have another boy, I would love to name him Jonah.

I think the strangest come from Hollywood: girls, but Apple and Cocoa????

I think it's a Southern thing to use the mom's (or grandmom's) maiden name for a baby's first name. My g'mom was a Chandler & had a nephew who's first name was Chandler.

DS9 is Rocco

Madonna's son is only 6 so I beat her to the name!

DS12 is Vincent

We wanted traditional but uncommon.

Given that our last name is very Italian, Shaun or Patrick or Liam just wouldn't have worked.

Griffin is perhaps trendy, but there are barely any of them around here. I know of 2 besides my own, and we live in a large town. The 2 that I know are both 2 years younger.

We chose it because we liked it and it wasn't very popular. We were not looking for a stange or different name, just something that wasn't popular. Several of the names we liked for DD had she been a boy were getting more common and we discarded them. Having both been one of MANY with our 1st names, we wanted something different for our kids.

BTW, both of our kids names are easy to spell. Again, didn't want weird or some "interesting" variation of common name, just wanted uncommon. Oh, and we wanted a clearly masculine name.

I'm not sure, but you can go to the social security website and look to see how common names are for as long as they've had records.

Also, I love this book Beyond Jennifer & Jason, Madison & Montana It's a fun read. Looks like they also have a new book - cool names or something.
