....I didn't know I still had to get my "luggage" and bring it to the bus.

For those of us who are not flying one of the airlines listed by Disney you should get your luggage from buggage claim and bring it to the bus.

I can vision a whole team of people now...board the bus...getting all the way to Disney only to discover their luggage is still going around the carousel at MCO.
:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: Then blaming the ME for their issues when they have to travel all they way back to MCO to get their luggage.:

You can put a sticky on this theard so they can start posting :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

My advice and tip....please review what Magical Express airlines automically transfer your luggage and what Magical Express airliness don't. For those that don't please don't forget your luggage.

This is a non-issue fortunately.

EVERYONE's luggage gets picked up behind the scenes at MCO and brought to your DIsney Resort. That's what the luggage tags are fo.

On the return trip only, will you have to bring your bags if you are not on a participating airline.

that is exactly what I mean...if you are flying Southwest then you have to bring your luggage to the bus!!!! They are many other airlines where they luggage is not automatically transfered

No no no :teeth:

Here's the deal:

On your incoming flight. From home to MCO, you will have special Disney Magical Express Luggage tags that they send to you. Attach these to your bags. Check your bags as normal at your departure airport. Get on your flight, relax and enjoy.

Arrive at MCO, make a quick restroom stop, and head to the pick up point for DME. Get on bus, go to resort, relax and enjoy.

Behind the scenes the luggage moving people will be gathering up ALL the bags with the DME luggage tags on them, loading them onto trucks, and sending them to the various resorts.

They will 'magically' appear in your room, sometime after you have checked in.

Now........on the way home, if you are not flying on a participating airline, then yes, you will have to get your bags onto the bus, and check them in at the airline counter at MCO.

OK... one more time.

ARRIVING Orlando - No matter what airline you fly, Disney will send you tags to put on your luggage. The tagged luggage will be claimed for you by Disney CM's and be loaded onto a luggage truck. You just have to load yourself onto the ME bus. You will be delivered to your resort and your luggage will arrive separately.

DEPARTING Orlando - If you are flying on a participating ME airline, you can check your bags, turn them over to Disney and get your boarding passes for your flight home. Get on the bus for the airport and go straight through security, no need to check in or check baggage. Your luggage will be going round and round the baggage carousel when you get to your home airport. If you are NOT flying on a ME airline, you load your luggage and yourself onto the ME bus for your trip to the Orlando airport. Once at the airport, get off the bus, grab your luggage and check in yourself and your luggage with your airline.

Why is this so hard to understand?

What I think is going to be the number one complaint is the folks who instead of going to the bus stood at the carousel waiting and waiting for luggage that is already at Disney! LOL!

Joining the chorus of explainers..... now listen up...

Anyone, even those flying on the Orient Express (so to speak) will get the special luggage tags from DME. Then, your bags get taken directly from the plane to your resort. You, the passenger, are met at the airport and directed to an area where you will most likely get checked in and then board your particular bus to your group of resorts. The ONLY luggage you will have is your carry-on bag(s). You never go to the baggage claim area at all!!!!

Now, when you leave WDW, IF you are flying one of the designated airlines, you will be able to 'check' your luggage at your resort...it will then get sent along to the airport. You, will be able to 'check-in' as a passenger at the resort. Then meet the bus at the appropriate time, hop on board, go to the airport with you carry-on luggage by your side, and go directly to security.
If you are NOT using a desigated airline, you still use the DME bus, but you take all your luggage with you. It would be very similar to the Mears shuttle but without so many stops. Your luggage will go in the underbelly of the bus, be taken off, with you, at the airport, you will go to the check-in at the airport and check your luggage and off to security.

The only difference it makes for the non-desiginated airlines is the ability to check your luggage at your resort....thereby saving you the time and hassle of lugging them to the airport and then having to check-in there. That's the only difference!!!!

Its not hard to understand...I understand that if you are on a non-participating airlines coming in you need to bring your luggage to the bus. I have been told this by several Disney CRO reservation agents. I wanted to be clear on what needs to be done so I get my luggage.

Just wait and see the post on around May 13 about lost luggage! Just wait...pack an change of undies in your carry-on. :rotfl:

The CRO agent you spoke to was incorrect. If you read the FAQs on Disney's Website, you will see that what we've been explaining is really how it's going to work.

I have seen that...we ALLL have seen that!

My original post was talking about procedures for flying on NON-Participant airlines.

I also posted that too information too! However that is not was I was referring too.

So, again do..

NON-PARTICIPATING AIRLINES ON INCOMING FLIGHT NEEDS TO GET THERE LUGGAGE AND BRING TO THE BUS that is what I need to know.

I don't mind being wrong....just help me understand!!!

I'm all done. We've really tried to reassure you, that regardless of WHAT airline to fly into Orlando DME will in fact deliver your baggage to your room, no need to pick it up, and only on the return trip, for non participating airlines do you need to cart your own bags.

Good Luck, and please report back when you return.

No I called and they specifically told me they do take the luggage from the plane to the bus. However, when you go to your departure flight you have to check in your own bags. Southwest does not participate in letting someone else check in your bags, but anyone can pick the bags up from the plane (I guess because theorectically they let your bags out on baggage claim and anyone off the street could pick up your suitcase).

It goes straight to the hotel room??
What if it's not check-in time yet? They will already have a room?

Well, if there is a room ready, then they will probably bring it right up. If not, they will hold it, until your assigned room is ready, and then deliver.
