Unfair :(

I just got my bands, and started researching. I must admit, I nearly cried several times while reading this thread. When did they stop the regular line? I think it is absolutely absurd to cheat guests out of rides because they are not staying onsite.

It seems like it won't be worth going to Disney if you can't wait in line to ride/meet the characters. I feel sorry for all the off site guests who will not have the ability to ride anything, they are certainly being cheated. I hope that Disney offers them a refund since they will have to "suffer" and "won't be able to ride 1st tier rides".

Hopefully Disney will fix this soon. Everyone attending the park should have the opportunity to decide if they want to wait in line or not.

Is this a bit dramatic? Off site guests can't ride ANYTHING?

:confused

Everyone has a choice, no one is forced to stay off site. Not sure why anyone would feel Disney is screwing them. We all know what the product is. We all have a choice to buy it or not. If the on site product is worth it, then stay on site. Nothing unfair about a business offering perks to guests willing to spend more money with them.

Don't forget their intention is to roll out FP+ to everyone. It is still in its testing phase.

But many of us made this choice before anyone knew the consequence of fp+. I know I would have booked onsite if Disney was upfront and gave us completely information and I am sorry but the testing excuse has run out for them.

I'm not angry. :confused3 How is my post any different than yours? It's just my opinion. You joined the discussion, so it seems standard board etiquette to me that I can comment, lol! Otherwise, just put something on there so I know it's off limits. As for "not ruining your trip," good lord, I should certainly hope not! :thumbsup2

I wasn't referring to you being angry, but others are.

I'm sorry for yet another Fastpass+ rant, however I leave this week to disney world and I'm not feeling this trip :(

We have a timeshare so staying off site, but let me get this straight:

Current resort guests are able to make Fastpass+ reservations AND pull regular fastpasses at the parks?

If so then no wonder all the fastpasses are gone so early! How unfair to the rest of us!!!!

I swear if I'd known about this before I purchased my park tickets I would have skipped Disney all together this year.

*sign* I will try to make the best of it, any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks for listening.

Pay the money to stay on site or remain silent!:stir:

But wdw Gives that same thing for free- I don't get your point.

Op magic band people are getting three passes that's it. It's not an overwhelming advantage honestly.

And like people stated its an advantage granted to paying customers.

3 FP+ but also the opportunity to enhance these with access to FP- thus the double dipping

Do you mean the standby line? There will still be stndby lines.

It is unfair. The thing that amuses me is I've read multiple posts since joining the DIS that Disney would never make offsite guests feel unwelcome, yada yada. Guess they were wrong.

My advice is to get to the parks about 45 minutes before they open and try to ride some things and pull FPs for the others. Hope you still have a good trip.

Don't go to Universal then - guests staying onsite with them get instant "Front of the Line Access (better than FastPass) all day!

Ah well, there's always Gatorland!

As has been pointed out here ad nauseam, Uni has fewer resort rooms ( +- 3000). Having FOTL for their onsite guests doesn't affect the lines in the same way it will with Disney( 28000 rooms).

You can't purchase the same privilege at Universal actually, only a cut down version of it. Plus, FP+ is still in testing, non-Disney guests will be able to purchase once it goes live (I understand)

FOTL as you previously posted is better than FP all day long. No running to a kiosk multiple times a day. Just get in the Express Line and you're set. Even the cutdwon version doesn't make you run around like a cray chicken.

$35???? I'm going to Orlando in April. The cost for a Universal Express pass is currently $89!!!! PER DAY, PER PERSON!

Or stay in a Universal onsite room for 1 night and get 2 days of FOTL- the day you check in through the entirety of check out day.

I took her post to mean that anyone can buy the "upgrade" at Universal, whereas at Disney it's currently limited to a sub-group of onsite guests.

As some others have said...it's not exactly unfair....
However, it is elitist and that's not what Walt was about...:cool1:

How is it elitist (a word bandied about far too much)

Disney is a company - not a charity.

Guests are naive and entitled to expect the company to GIVE them something for nothing- nothing in this case being your lodging dollars if you are staying off site.

I don't think with regular fp being a staple now in the parks it would be right to take it away completely from off site guests but that isn't what they are doing at all.

On site guests just get an edge over off site.

Maybe. Who the heck even knows what it will be!

I have been trying to look through the whole thread but I am interested to hear what the original poster thinks now that she has been there. Did I miss any posting?

I meant give it a rest with insulting other peoples choices.

I don't even really think EMH for onsite guests is particularly fair. But it sure beats charging people for FOTL passes.

I would venture a guess that disney isn't trying to be fair.

There is no need to be "fair" in the sense that fair being used on the thread means equal.

They don't have to treat everyone equal. It's a business

Are they going to give hotel guests at their hotels more?

Sure! Why would people pay double, triple for a room on site when they can get a much nicer room right down the road for much less?

Disney has to offer something more than just hot crowded buses to fill the rooms.

As far as your earlier statement of the parks and hotels being separate and advantages shouldn't leak over into the parks you can think that but it's wrong
It's called Walt Disney World Resort- the resort part there tells you they are all tied together and resort guests always get perks.

Just look into Atlantis in the Bahamas . They allow people to do things at the resort but they have to pay and at a much higher rate

Disney hasn't formed some new business model or anything.

What disney has done is make is feel like we are all Uncle Walts family - which is what they want - except we think since we are family we are all deserving to be given something - even if we aren't willing to pay disney for those services.

It IS limited to a sub group right now because it is not even a product yet!

What would be different is if they took away fp altogether ans only those testing could use it. That would be the correct comparison

Right now on site guests still have access to fp as usual and for free.

Like others stated it seems the shortage of fp was some kind of glitch that seems to be remedied based on the more recent wait times.

Then Uncle Walt is a cheapskate. Imagine charging family those kinds of prices just for visiting him.
Seriously, you feel like part of the Disney family?

Disney's Fastpass (+ or - ) is not the same thing as Universal's Express Pass. They are COMPLETELY different systems. Not even comparable.

Its ironic to read threads like this one where the onsite folks try to convince the offsiters that the lack of the ability to partake in FP+ (at least, for now) is not something to get their panties in a knot over, yet there are a multitude of posts on other threads where people are discussing changing their reservations so they are at one of the resorts taking part in the testing. :scratchin

And everyone who walks through a turnstile with a valid ticket is a "paying customer". Unless, by some stroke of luck, their admission was free.

This comment is amusing.

The hotels on site are not that good #1.

#2 is costs more to stay at nicer hotels off site where you get more bang for your buck, larger rooms and are better quality.

Let's not act like Disney hotels are nice, quite frankly they aren't.

I think most are complaining because they don't like the idea of getting forced into poor quality accommodations by Disney just for this FP+.

Honestly, those that stay onsite in some respects are suckers.
Unless you rely on the bus and magical express, there is little to no incentive to stay onsite versus the Gaylord Palms for instance.

Right now I think off site guests are getting screwed over. With so many on site guests now using FP+, the number of same day FP has to be much more limited than normal.

Suckers? Seriously?

I have run the numbers six ways to Sunday and staying on site is less expensive than offsite for us. Of course, we are perfectly content to stay in a basic, clean room... and love that our party can come and go at will, without the need to coordinate based on a vehicle. Or worry about being too tired to drive when we leave the parks, after a day of fun on too little sleep. Or moving the car a thousand times as we park hop.

It doesn't mean we're suckers. It means that the perks of staying on site are the best fit for our group.
