Current resort guests are able to make Fastpass+ reservations AND pull regular fastpasses at the parks?
If so then no wonder all the fastpasses are gone so early! How unfair to the rest of us!!!!
So....people should test a system with no compensation and ONLY be allowed 3 FPs at all? While offsite people can get as many FPs as they can get?
Don't go to Universal then - guests staying onsite with them get instant "Front of the Line Access (better than FastPass) all day!
It is better than FP, but it's not front of the line. A line might be shorter, but there is usually a line of some sort.
Hopefully they cut the double dipping soon. Then those same people will be stuck with only three fp's and a glitchy system
Sounds like a perfect compensation to be a tester. Oh wait, it doesn't. When DH used to test things for Microsoft, he got free, valuable to him, pieces of software as compensation, or a fairly decent amount of money to go and play with computers for a couple hours.
$35???? I'm going to Orlando in April. The cost for a Universal Express pass is currently $89!!!! PER DAY, PER PERSON!
It's season-based. April is a busy time. Other times are not.
My thoughts exactly. Unless you're park hopping all over the place and going back and forth to your hotel a couple of times per day, you're not spending 2-3 hours on a bus.
You might not have, but others might. And the Disney transportation site itself tells you to give yourself something like 1.5 hours to get anywhere.
If it were any less, they'd have a tough time getting the money they do for the on site hotels.
I would invite you to check out the Universal forum, where you can find info on how you can quite often get the hotel bill a bit lower. I've seen prices in the 150 range for RPR, which is a lovely resort (though I personally prefer Portofino). The resorts there are fabulous, you can use the perks of all three of the deluxe resorts if staying at one (this privilege isn't expected to be offered to the future Cabana Bay though), and while they can be high at first, there are many ways to keep on checking and many find the prices will go down.
I felt privileged enough just having the magic band and walking right onto the 'E ticket' rides with my early reservation. There is no way I would have walked past the folks in line and pulled an additional pass, just because I 'could'. I feel sorry for the folks who haven't been able to have this advantage. Sure, we spent money to stay onsite, albeit at a discount plus my cheaptickets coupon and my ebates rebates.

thumbsup2) My additional ticket pull meant one person who needed a fastpass wouldn't get one.
Meanwhile, the people holding paper FPs might well have more than one FP for that ride later in the day. What an odd reason to not do what they say we're allowed to do. (except for the rogue CMs who didn't pay attention in training)
If anyone should be complaining about things being "unfair", it's people like me who have paid to stay at a Disney Resort during the test period but haven't been chosen to participate in FP+. How is that fair?
What resort is that? I would have sworn that ALL resorts are now part of testing?
I think I've told you this before, but I never got the invite at all for testing. And yet I got the MB, did the FP+ reservations, used them, etc. If you're waiting for an invite (and I think you're still too far out for any of it to be showing up in your
MDE), don't. If the MDE page changes and lets you customize things, DO IT!
I feel left out, but like I said, I'd rather deal with regular FP anyways. At least I can get more than 3 per day.
That IS true, but I'm not sure it will be your situation.
Yeah unfortunately. We figured we'll suck it up, get to Universal when the open, and try and hit the big stuff first. If we see the crowds are unmanageable, we'll consider buying the express pass at that time.
In a couple months the AP rates should show up. I'm not sure IF your time will get an AP rate, but check anyway (use APH on the loewshotels.com site). Check to see how many rooms one AP can book if the rate pops up. It's entirely possible it will never pop up given that you are going at a high-use time, but you never know.
Universal Express Unlimited was, for the LONGEST time (years and years), reserved for Hotel guests. I've looked, before...as recently as our trip in December 2012. I'm not sure when it changed, though..as it obviously has.
I really hate to do this to you, but
here is an article last edited in September 2010 that states the unlimited version was available for purchase at the gates back then.
I am staying on site and I don't get FP+ access. How sad is that? The system is not fair.
WHERE are you staying? WHY don't you get access to it?
FP+ will be good for me. No extra walking to get a FP.
That's what finally brought me over to the "hey, maybe it won't be so bad" side.
Maybe Disney should let money do the talking and scrap FP all together. It's nice that they want FP to be free but free only takes you so far when it's offered to everyone.
Kind of like how when everyone gets a trophy, getting one is no big deal anymore. Either limit it to onsite, or charge for it.
Hmm. I got the same medal every other person got for running the TOT 10 miler, but it means a tremendous amount to me. That line of reasoning was cute in The Incredibles, but for many people who have done something brave or difficult (piano recital, run a race, tried their best in a spelling bee, etc), those medals DO mean a lot.
Again. Many of us love Disney transportation. I have never waited more than 10 minutes for a bus/boat/monorail ever.
Can I travel with you? We most definitely have.
I'm an Annual Passholder. I stay on site. I have no idea what you're talking about.
Once I was able to connect my AP to MDE it was all golden. I am across the country now and, from recent experience in playing with the system (sometimes having to try a couple times b/c of silly and meaningless error messages), I know I could make a FP+ reservation for a park tomorrow if I felt like it. So if I were in town, offsite, I could do that, too. Awesome!
But that's because I did have that onsite reservation....for those who never stay onsite, yep, the testing period is going to be hard...
What you and some others fail to seep through your mind that this is only during testing.. I pointed you to a link where Disney THEMSELVES stated that FP+ will be available to anyone with any "VALID PARK ADMISSION".
I look forward to their definition of "FastPass+ eligible Guests". It doesn't really make me nervous (as I firmly believe FP+ will be available to all once it rolls out completely), but that's a phrase that I knew would get to others.
